how much he "now hates United"
=============================
Fair play to him.
Don't know why 'now hates United' is in quotation marks.
He was never one of the very best. One of the worst things about him is how overrated he has become since retiring.
You can't just put things in quotation marks that he hasn't said and act like he said it
I'll assume you're talking about how he said he prefer a lot of things associated with non league football rather than the current premier league, which although it was a bit of a moan it had some truths to it.
you hate him because he's not a Premface
He just moans about everything now. Everytime he opens his mouth (Which he never used to do) It's to moan. The guys attention whoooring so that he doesn't stop being famous now he's retired. Pathetic.
"how can someone not think the Premier League is the bestest and United are the greatest at everything?"
He's just jealous because Man Utd are about to become better than they ever were when he was playing.
What has he said he hates about United? The lack of quality we've had over the last few years? The dire football? The poor tactics? Sounds like any other United fan to me.

people in the media (even Legends) aren't allowed to actually say what the rest of us are thinking though, they have to be contrary so we can moan at them for that instead of agreeing with us
Scholes is an absolute double legend, there are few finer ever to wear the shirt.
Nothing wrong with wanting United to stay on top of the pile - he helped put us there.

It's not about what they say, it's how it's said and more and more he is coming off more of a classless bitter twaat than a angry fan. There more of a personal dig in his tone than just the upset rantings of a fan who is hurting because his team has gone to crap.
Scholes was spot on about the premier league. Sorry if it's not what the prem faces wanted to hear, but he's right.
He does err on the more pessimistic side, but I'd say a more realistic view rather than other pundits sucking on the cash cows teet.
Gent as a player, in what way?
Just because someone is quiet/introverted etc doesn't make them a nice guy.
I remember someone mentioned something similar about Scholes and Keane smiled as though they were clueless.
But yes he doesn't come across great on tv, has no charisma, cannot really articulate himself well and seems slightly bitter towards anyone playing for united now.

He is right in that the premier league is overrated, but that has been the case going back 20 years, it isn't a recent thing. He was acting as if the worlds best players all wanted to come to the premier league ten years ago, when that wasn't the case.
There are better teams in germany, la liga and Italy but we have enough quality where one of our teams could go on a run in the champions league and possibly win it... It wouldn't shock me if City won the champions league for example, or United/Chelsea in the next couple of years.
His words contain so many contradictions here it's almost hilarious.

"I must confess to growing weary of Paul Scholes. For such a wonderful footballer, he isn't half a miserable beggar. This article basically amounts to "it was better in the old days". Full of glib opinions like "There needs to be a real step up in quality in England", as if there is a some master puppeteer for individual clubs to all up their game en masse, like nobody is trying in the first place. Telling us that Gareth Bale is apparently a "top player" (thanks for that Paul, what tipped you off?) and conveniently ignoring Paul Pogba's transfer to Man Utd when bemoaning a perceived lack of top players, presumably because it doesn't follow his Eeyore narrative that everything is glum. Championing clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus, who exist in leagues seemingly built to serve only those clubs. Bemoaning that managers are under pressure after three or four games and that it ruins English football, like that doesn't occur in other leagues, and declaring that he would likely be sacked after five games for pursuing good football, having admitted that he doesn't know if he would go into management and hasn't completed his necessary badges yet, but then also saying he wouldn't worry about getting sacked if he did. But it still ruins English football, ok?"

Good one.
He is a complete moan these days, but it doesn't change the fact he was one of the best players of his generation.
Anyone who says he has become overrated either didn't watch enough of the guy, or doesn't know that much about football.
Remember Scholes came out and said he prefers Pep to Jose when he was asked (before Jose's appointment) He is a purist anyway, always has been.Appreciates the technical side of the game.
I am not sure how old the average poster is on ja 606 but since the arsenal united rivalry of the lated 90's and early 20's the football has been a bit bland.
cant really remember any of Jose's teams or the City teams although its hard to forget the aguero moment.
Most of the class of 92 always rate domestic football according to the levels they reached when Wenger was producing competitive teams.Gary has alluded the same.
For example why hasnt there been a player close to Viera and Keane in almost 15 years of football. Closesty was Essien and even then he wasnt that close.
Why arent there defenders as good or fullbacks as good?
I also think football in general has deteriorated.I remember the CL in 1994, when Valencia was ripping it, and the football was all out attack
If Paul pogba is worth 89m. A 23 year old Paul Scholes would be worth 150m.
Great player, his constant moaning is slightly tiring though...
Scholes is a legend but lately he sounds like the grumpy old man who can't accept times are changing. The only rant of his that I have enjoyed and totally agreed with is after we lost at Anfield last season

Was Scholes better than Pogba at 23? I'm slightly too young to remember but I do have my doubts he was 60m better than Pogba. I'm not saying Pogba will become a better player than Scholes was but it's certainly not beyond possibility.
