Pogba apart from a couple of flashes of skill was awful. His positional sense was bad, and he was very sloppy at times, he will get better, but I do doubt that his best position is as a DM. He really needs to be moved further up the pitch to get the best out of him.
I was honestly worried about this United team, but from what I have seen from today they are far away from the finished article.
Matuidi or Kante would have been much better signings for Utd than Pogba imo.

Completely agree with this.
Pogba and a Kante or Matuidi would of been a better fit.
Pogba playing with Fellaini is just funny. The bigger teams will have a field day again if those to are paired centrally together in a 2 man midfield.
Too late, but with Kante City would not have had anything like the possession they did have.

We just need to play a 3 man midfield and we will be fine imo

You were playing a 3 man midfield.
I think Pogba is a good player, and though he was pants today he will improve. What I would say is that I've never seen him run the game not for Juve or France. Which is what you want for that money.

I think Pogba just needs a solid defensive midfielder to make up for his positional frailties. Talent he has.
I always thought he was around a 30 million pound player at best.
For 50 plus mill you want somebody who is going to be consistently effective in the final third most weeks, whether that be through scoring goals or dominating the flow of the game and making key passes.
To me, he is a quick and skillful player, but lacks footballing IQ and goals which is why he will never be world class.

-We switched to 3 man midfield at half time and were marginally the better team.
City had no impeteus to attack as they had taken the lead making them that much more resolute defensively.
As for pogba he plays his best football as the most attacking of a 3 man midfield. He has never been positionaly disciplined and that is why I personally did not want him unless we were planning to play him in a 3 man midfield.

It will be fine against most teams, I sad in the summer that I thought he was very very similar to Toure in 2011/12.
We only played Toure in a two in games we expected to win confortably though, for others we brought in a dm (de Jong), sacrificing the number 10 and shifting Toure up a bit to be the most attacking of the two Cms.
The shape you had today looked very similar in midfield to Mourinhos Chelsea and they had the same issue with Fabrrgas being one of them at times, even when the other was Matic and not Fellaini.

Has SAF ever sold anyone who went on to be a world beater? We're talking about a man who sold RVN, his best player, because he saw the potential in the young Ronaldo here.
He's not going to go box-to-box like a Keane,Gerrard or Vierra. And he's not going to make the game tick over like Scholes or Modric. He's going to ...erm.....fck knows.

Don't see the relevance.
Got a feeling that bloke Ronaldo has gone on to become a half decent player?
I don't think match fitness was pogbas problem today. He was all over the pitch on his debut, didn't look short of fitness at all.
It's been said before that pogba, in the big games, doesn't dominate the midfield. He went completely missing in the euros when France needed him and it's something he needs to sort out. Exactly the same today
He'll come good. Patience is required
We overpaid massively though
Overpaying massively is the only consistent thing United have done in the past 3 years.
