As you say Flash the logic at the time was sound. Courtois had already been our goalkeeper for a season, a title winning season at that and he'd performed well.
All signs pointed towards Courtois being our first choice keeper for many years to come.
Cech ain't a Chelsea legend. He chose to join Arsenal who weren't his only option lol. He could have joined almost any club he wanted
I agree that he's better than cuuuntois though
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
At the time the club made the right choice, even though is was not a good feeling to see Cech go

Wahl I thought i had filtered you? Have you got round that technicality by creating a new account? Oh well........ Guess we're stuck with you.
I have never ever seen any footballer ever do that. Didn't Drogba just move to the US and Turkey before that?
Does anyone think John Terry would move to Arsenal if whatever reason he left Chelsea just for the family reason?
Flash dude, I ain't messing around, I want to have a proper discussion about this.
there's no point in having this discussion with you. i don't have the patience to debate with somebody in their mid-teens.
it's certainly not as b&w as you're suggesting.
Would John Terry have joined Arsenal in the same situation? One question.
The point is that Courtois is just not good enough and Begovic is worse. We would be better off making a bid for Forster and starting over.

John Terry almost joined Arsenal when Chelsea was going to the wall. People put too much store in players these days; they are professional sportsmen, they follow the money, end of story. You should just be grateful for what you do get from them, not what you don't get - they're just people.

You really think JT is that loyal to Chelsea? He’s been paid very well for that loyalty. He used City as leverage (nothing wrong with it) to hold club to ransom in 09. Kept silent and let the speculation continue, but when the club advised him they were not going to offer him a new deal he sang like a Canary.
Most people accept your first loyalty should be to your partner and kids. JT didn’t even get that right. Which I suppose has to be accepted cos he’s a football and the general consensus is if a footballer only cheats a handful of times, the wife has got lucky.

Yeah, I am 100% sure Terry would not join Arsenal in the same way Gerrard didnt join Everton when he left Liverpool
All gone a bit down hill since he left.
Positive voice and influence in the dressing room?
Joins Arsenal and they have had their highest finish in a decade and have a more than good chance of winning the league.

Will Terry be next?

Whats wrong with begovic? Hes been good to excellent whenever i've seen him and that's coming in rusty everytime, if given time and a run of games to communicate with our defence im sure we'd see an improvement.
hold on what, when was John Terry going to Arsenal? I don't put any stock in player's loyalty but I've never heard that before.
Nick
I think the club should cut ties with Courtois next summer.
I rate him but i think he's unhappy at the club and that imo is affecting his form.
Just before Roman bought us, there were some media rumours that Arsenal wanted him and Wenger came out and said what a good prospect he was and that fuelled the rumours even more.
Nothing ever came of it as far as I remember just paper talk.

Well he is about 50
My own belief is if we had to have a 'car boot sale' is he'd have joined United.
But they are a rival. I don't classify them any less just cos they're not in London.

Doesn't seem like a character you can warm too does he, just standing around looking lost like postman pat.
Really disappointing, after his first season I thought wow, very good, and can improve on weaker aspects such as kicking and communication and crosses, instead he's got weaker at his plus points and has not improved on the weak one.
Chicken before the egg situation though. Is he playing poor due to the defence or vice versa? Or a bit of both most likely.
