My best friend is a chef and he puts in 88 hours a week. He just recently bought a house with his girlfriend (who he never gets to see because of his career choice). I know how hard chefs work, but to suggest that getting on the property ladder is an unattainable dream simply isn't true. I guess everyone just wants the 4 bedroom, big garden in Wilmslow first home these days.

Wtf would you want to live in Wilmslow for? All about Hale these days... I don't think I've suggested it's a unattainable dream. It is more difficult now though than it has ever been, and as much as putting 48+ hours a week in is a good place to start, it's not a solution. If everybody who worked long hours could buy a property they would all be doing it.

While I appreciate your optimism, I am unsure how a UK government (legislating for soon to be non-EU country) will be able to ensure UK banks which operate in the EU, retain their EU passports.
The government could possibly offer tax breaks to the banks, (which would turn the UK into some tax haven which would never happen).
I also don’t think the UK electorate would be too keen to see tax breaks for financial services, as we’re not that popular as it is
Essentially there’s little they can do. Other than ensuring the UK remains in the SM.
Which, if they chose to, will result in political suicide, as there will be millions of unhappy voters when then find out immigration will remain as is, and the UK continues to pay into the EU. Both of which were massive elements in the referendum.

Not really, most couples require at least a 3 bed if they're to have a child/ children in the next few years.
In my area they don't come for less than £150k.
That's a £30k deposit for people who also pay rent.
Not easy.
It's not easy isn't their a government scheme to now help first time buyers?
There are but it's still fecking difficult! Renting has not boomed over the past couple of decades because a new generation can't be ar5ed working towards their own home. Renting costs more than paying a mortgage anyway.
