Team for Man U

That's the right team selection for me, we can bring Mavies, Eagles and N'Gog on towards end to test tired legs.

We need Muamba to man mark Rooney, give him no space, I'd be tempted to go 451, but dno if that's the right mentality when we got a he'd earned 2-2 last season at the Bok.

Heres how I'd line up against Utd;

----------------------------------Jussi

Steinsson----------Cahill-----------Boyata-------------Robbo

Tuncay---------Mavies---------Muamba---------Petrov

-----------------------Davies------------Klasnic/ N'gog

Mavies was impressive (or at least our most impressive player) at Liverpool. I'd take Muamba over Reo coker as he is better at marking players out of the game...

Also, I'd go for N'gog as he has more to other than just scoring goals like Klasnic.....

Gibson ????.

By the way, Rio will Partner Jones with Smalling right back, Evra left back.

Jones is not push over, as I'm sure you've noticed.

Sure you'll aim to get at De Gea but the lad is talented and this will help him learn.

Steinsson hasn't looked fully fit yet this season for me.

I would go a 4-5-1 like this:

Boyata---Cahill---Knight---Robbo

Tuncay---Mavis---Muamba---NRC---Petrov

Kev Davies

It would allow Muamba the freedom to man mark Rooney with enough quality in midfield to support KD when in possession.

Woody, I don't think "most" posters want to drop SKD, though there is a highly vocal minority who do.

My team for Saturday would be:

Jaaskelainen

Steinsson -- Cahill -- Knight -- Boyata

Tuncay -- Reo-Coker -- M Davies -- Petrov

-- Ngog --------K Davies

Subs
Bogdan, Robinson, Wheater, Muamba, Kakuta, Eagles, Klasnic.

Normally I am against sticking new signings straight in but after the dismal performance at Anfield, I'd like Coyle to send a message.

You are all missing one key player......

The ref. Who that is depends on the result more than OCs team. Seven words 'Howard Webb mbe for services to man utd'

Another 65 mins for Holden tonight... Great news, but not ready for Saturday..

I notice most putting Boyata straight in.....I'd wait till I see him kick a ball in a Bolton shirt first. Do we know already that he is a good 'un?
Anyway Tuncay/Ngog upfront for me.
I can't see the result of the game being effected no matter who we play....therefore lets get the new lads in and ready for the Norwich game.....that one is a 6 pointer IMO.

Really tough decision here for Coyle. I am going to split this into what I would like and what I think Coyle will do

I would like:

Jussi

Steinsson
Cahill
Boyata
Robinson

Muamba
Reo-Coker

Tuncay
Mavies
Petrov

Klasnic

Here it what I think Coyle will do:

Jussi

Steinsson
Cahill
Knight
Robbo

Eagles
Muamba
Reo-Coker
Petrov

Davies
N'Gog

I think Klasnic will miss out, although I am dead against it. He has scored in every prem game so far. I also feel sorry for Mavies. He is by far our best ball keeper, but his inability to always be involved makes him more susceptible to being dropped/not making the starting eleven.

I don't mind Coyle playing 4-42 at home. Sometimes that attacking formation can frighten opposition and gives us an opportunity to really get at 'em!

Coyle has plenty of options now though, which is only a good thing

100% agree with all that. Coyle wont drop SKD or Knight. Klasnic I reckon will be unfairly first out the door for Ngog.

Mark Davies needs a good run in the team. It'll be tough for him once Holden returns because he will be first choice in with probably NRC with OC signing him. I just feel he has the potential to be a great player and personally I think hes better technically than Holden which is why they could make a great partnership

LargeHat,
Just for laughs you say OC should send a message ... he took off SKD for being sub-par shall we say...but you have him back in the team.....what's that message about?

I would give the new boys a try, for me Knight, Muamba, Eagles and K.Davies have been very poor so far this season.

Jussi
Steinsson Cahill Boyata Robinson
Kakuta NRC Mavies Petrov
Ngog Klasnic

I think he will go with;
jussi,
steinsson,cahill,knight,robinson.
eagles,mavies,reo coker,petrov.
davies,klasnic.
cant see muamba being involved the way he was hauled off against liverpool.the klasnic/davies combo deserves another go but i cant believe people on this forum have picked him on his own up front, this just would not work as he is not quick enough or does not work hard enough to lead the line on his own the ball would keep on coming back at us it would be like playing with 10 men.the new guys probably wont be match fit and wont start at the moment.they will probably be introduced as subs(its a 14 man team these days) and get their full debuts away at villa in the cup.

zkat... if you think that because someone got substituted in the last game they should be the first person to be dropped in the following game, even if it's the club captain and one of your most effective players, that's your opinion, not mine, so you can stick your patronising .

I happen to think K Davies will have a better game against United's 2nd choice centre backs, it's a thread for posting what I think the team should be, and that's what I did. By all means disagree, but your silly put down was unnecessary.

Klasnic not quick enough to lead the line on his own ? Compared with the lightning pace of Davies I can see your point, and before you mention Davies work-rate, last season and this he doesn't work anywhere near as hard as he used to, he is static, he makes one ridiculous run across the pitch slide tackle lunge every game to con the fans into thinking he still runs around for 90 minutes. He doesn't.

Neither Klasnic or Davies is right to lead a 4-5-1 formation.

Your'e comment that SKD doesn't run is ridiculous, he still works a damn site harder than Klasnic and is instrumental in a lot of our games....

-----------

Have to say, I ain't that bothered about work rate. I would much rather have a goalscorer striker than a hard working one.

Klasnic is scoring for fun at the moment and looks fitter than ever. He can get us 12 goals this seaaon given an extended run in the team. Davies won't score that many, generally due to him facing the wrong way most of the time.

Whilst I agree that neither Davies or Klas are great candidates for leading a line, I would much rather prefer Klas as he at least looks like scoring. Where will our goals come from otherwise?

posted on 8/9/11

I didn't say he doesn't run, I said he was static - which he is and doesn't work as hard as he used to, which (in my opinion) is true. How is that ridiculous ?

posted on 8/9/11

Robot, for games against teams such as QPR, Wigan, Norwich etc. I would start Klasnic, however we are playing the Champions and I would rather we sacrificed a bit of goalscoring talent for a lot more effort. we were completely outclassed by Liverpool and we need to break their plays up in defence to stand a realistic chance.

It is likely it will be Jones/Ferdinand in Central defence this weekend, I just think we could exploit Ferdinands lack of pace with a pacey striker e.g. N'gog and we could use Jones inexperience by drawing him into a battle with SKD.

Sergent_nige - what is the difference between static and not running? I called your post that because I felt you were suggesting SKD does nothing...
