Hazard was a one season wonder
-------------------------------'

Hardly. Was brilliant since he arrived. Enough to have made team of the year lists. Even this season, he's been good. He's just judged by a different level of expectation. Last season is the only poor season Hazard has had in England.

Probably still Aguero for me, but Sanchez does run him close. De Bruyne would be third. Beyond that I think defenders deserve a bit of credit. So Alderwiereld would be my fourth pick, with possibly Matip making up the top 5. Hasn't played many games yet but looks class. Depressing that City and Liverpool players make up 60% of my top 5 players

I'd say De Gea

He's the best in the world in his position

Defenders need a different category of their own. Same with goalkeepers. Too different a skill set from attackers to compare really.

Yeah that's true. And I'd take him over the brilliant but error prone Neuer any day of the week

I'd never declare a goalkeeper as a best player in a league. I think they're technically limited by what they can do in their position compared to outfield players.

KDB in my opinion...

Kdb has the most talent. He is the best at city anyway. Still young aswel.

I often agree with you Spurtle, and here we are again. You're right it can't be a 'keeper

I was just throwing my obligatory "it's a player from my team" answer in. Which is childish of me.

Similar to jlou with Coutinho

Says everything when you have to put a keeper in as your best player!

Kdb has the most talent.

How exactly do you measure that?

Coutinho

And based just on this season, Coutinho is right up there. Four goals and four assists, and his general play has been excellent.

I'm curious as to why you feel the need to 'downgrade' him?

I guess most other fans seem capable of judging the PL's best players on more than the 10 games of this season - which is why even Wahl hasn't popped along to suggest that Costa is the best player in the league.

Then why is KDB up there? Don't get me wrong, I think he's a fantastic player, but by this criteria he's not done it over a long enough period himself.

A player's quality is determined by how much David Pleat struggles to pronounce his name.

He made a right hash of 'Coutinho' yesterday, so I'm going with him.

And Coutinho has been doing it for more than just this season, he's just found a higher level of consistency.

He's being judged on this season and last. I guess sometimes as well top players coming from abroad have a little credit in the bank already, even if it was earned outside the PL.
