I've stopped using my mobile while driving for the last few months now, no specific incident led to it but kust got to realize how easy it would be to hit someone when only lookign away for a second, I do pick it up at red lights from time to time but don't look at it while driving.
Can't watch the video in work but will do later, tragic story.
I saw this the other day. Tragic.
Utter negligence on the part of the lorry driver. Recall seeing the headline (possibly the Mail) which obviously had to refer to the driver as ‘migrant’ as he was Polish.
I have a wee Parrot kit for the car which is great.

Even that is not allowed
I use my phone sometimes. It's something which I need to cut out and fast because the consequences could be fatal for some other poor driver/passengers who weren't using their phone.
. Even using it in traffic queues is dangerous.
Whats so important that you need to be looking at your phone so much when driving?
I know so many people that do it and sometimes when i cycle the amount of people that are on there phones is insane!
Most people use it for nonsense stuff anyway. Changing music, reading texts/emails, looking at FB etc. And you can kill someone, or several people, by doing that.
Maybe we should all honk our horns at people in their phones.

I dont understand how smoking and driving gets far less attention as people using their phone.
imo its just as bad. not fully in control of your car
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then you would have to stop people eating drinking. Thus closing all the drive throughs yeah?
This infuriates me so much. Every day on my drive into or out of work I am surrounded by drivers texting on their phones. I look right or left, they're on them, I look in my rear view and it's the same. One day I just know that one of these idiots is going to crash into me.

I know Mr C and I don't actually know why I do it as I'm not looking at anything midblowing. I may send a text at a red light but even that can wait.
What I tend to do now is line up a podcast or two depending on the distance so they play away on my phone and that stops me picking it up so often, as BATTYWACK says what really is so important.

Do you mean a cigarette or somethign stronger? I'd disagree on the cigarette, I smoke when I drive and it has no impact on my ability to drive I'd argue.

well yeah. eating in your car is also just as bad. I was told in my lessons that unless you're using the gears or using the car controls, both hands should be on the wheel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was told the same and I think it's very important when you first start to drive but the better and more comfortable you get the less you find you have two hands on the wheel.
Like when I first started driving I used to gfreak out at roundabouts, now I change gear going around them etc. it's about your confidence growing etc.

Just buy an automatic. No need to worry about gear changes and you can have your $5 footlong whilst driving

I mean people smoking/ rolling cigs while driving. both hands should be on the wheel. what if someone walks out in front of your car while you have a cig in your hand? your ability to avoid them decreases massivly
----------------------------------------------------------------------
do you brake with your hands?
i think if anyone on here has said they have never looked at their phone wen driving, or in fact looked at anything they are lying.
what happened was tragic and heartbreaking, but can you really be that judgemental when youve done the exact same thing?
why are people in such a rush to be eating or smoking when driving in the first place? pull over take 2 mins if you are that desperate ffs.
or in fact looked at anything they are lying.
