I gave my mate, his Mrs and their two young (aged 5 and 7) kids a lift last week and honestly think that I could have sent a text, updated FB, taken up smoking, rolled a cig, smoked the cig, had a w**k, called at the drive through & eaten whilst still driving, and STILL have been able to concentrate better than I was able to.

Ban young children from the back of cars I say.

Bit creepy. Texting, mobile use in general, smoking and eating have all been mentioned already in this thread....

Incidentally, smoking is nothing like using your phone, ffs. Assuming your faggs are "where they always are", you don't even need to look at them once to light one.

I cycle across London every day. Whenever I see someone driving and on their phone I kick their wing mirrors off.

There's nothing that important that you need to look at your phone while driving.

Really.

It's facking irresponsible and has to have the zero tolerance approach that drink driving had to make it completely socially unacceptable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it is, but are you telling me youve never been driving and taken your eyes off the road for a second, whether its to look at a phone or look at something out of your side window that youre passing?

------
World of difference observing what's going on around you to focusing on a small LCD screen reducing peripheral vision to zero.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
theres no world of difference at all if what youre looking out isnt essential when youre driving.

----------
Depends what you meant by looking out the window, at the neighbouring lane, wing mirror, rear view...

No need to be looking at anything else for any protracted period of time.

Probably why I haven't crashed into anything, tyre burst once that nearly killed me on the M40 - supposed makes one a lot more wary of what can easily happen.

What do you do when you see cyclists on their phone? They don't have wing mirrors. Well, most of them don't.

The cyclists who know how to use the roads are fine, they signal properly and know when to wait etc.

But you get hipsters, usually women, who have these old timey bikes with baskets on the front who cycyle aroud like they're in a fecking meadow, head up in the air, not aware of anything around them, they drive me mad

Much like my racism mantra:
Some road users are s.
Some of those s drive cars, and some of them ride bikes.

I ride a bike a few days a week to get across town.

Just as quick as by car and I don't have to worry about parking.

Bikers and cyclists are feckin annoying. Driving through the middle of lanes in between cars. That should be outlawed. If they want to use the roads and be treated like other road users then get in line like the rest of us. Then shake their head at you when you overtake them but they see it fit to swing about from lane to lane like feckin Carl Fogarty .

Just a bit of jealousy there that a bike can be faster!

The driver in the article had his eyes off the road for over a kilometre apparently. That's fookin awful considering he was in a lorry.

Never look at my phone while driving no matter how tempting it is.
