Sod what FIFA want. I'd happily see us boycott the world cup next time round if we were given the chance to vote to.

Will save us a lot of heartache/embarrassment I suppose

Frankly mate, that is true.
My main reason for being willing to sign any petition that is for us boycotting Russia is that it's going to be a bloodbath and I'm certain a few young kids who will still be in school now who will be 17/18 come 2 years time and off to Russia with their mates will be murdered.
Refuse to send the team and hold a home nations tournament instead for my money. Would be for inviting Ireland too of course. Get some more use out of the national teams grounds and keep well away from FIFA's mess.
Tbh I agree with Fifa on this one. You allow exceptions to be made to a particular rule (no matter how deserving) then you set a precedent. It would undermine the rule, which I believe is actually noble and maintains football's status as a safe common ground away from all those issues which divide people.

England in 2011 wore poppies on armbands on the 12th November against Spain, and Ireland wore a 'political symbol' on their shirts on 25 March (which FIFA are now' investigating'
