plenty of time and points available to reach top 6 this season. we need a major turn round in performances to do that but if lambert can tighten our defence quickly then I think we have a good chance of pushing up the league.
fosun have said funds will be available in January if it looks like top 6 is still a possibility, which I read as a message to lambert that he'll be backed if he can show some improvements for the next 7 or 8 games and get us close to mid table. I personally don't think we need to do that much with the squad if lambert can cut out the stupid errors that are gifting sides early goals every match. one CB, one CM and a fully fit dicko may be enough to at least mount a challenge.
I'd go with two proven cb's gb and don't forget we have graham due back and possibly zyro. It's a pity we can't get Williamson fit.

Never been relegated from the premier league either this guy, perhaps when he gets us there we will be able to build something this time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's because he has either deserted a club (who go on to be relegated) or relegates the club he goes to but gets the sack before the event.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wikipedia: "Aston Villa scored just 12 goals in 25 league games, the lowest in Premier League history, and Lambert was sacked on 11 February 2015."
It's Groundhog Day.
We've got Mick, but without the charisma or international experience. Good luck to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.
Why the hell do people use selective language? Might as well say that Ranieri is a better manager than Klopp and Poch combined. After all, the STATS in English leagues agree with this.

Lambert was one of the managers who denounced the sacking of Mick, back in 2012.
"It was definitely the wrong decision to let Mick go."
"Sacking Mick was wrong, simply because of the drive and the passion he has."
"From a football point of view I think it was a big mistake.”
I do feel that in Lambert we once again have the right person to get us up the table, and hopefully promotion.
First up...can we (perts) really say he's the 4th coach of the season? Surely can't count edwards or Kenneth
Strange league this one...A few wins on the bounce and you make massive inroads up the table
Funds available is all good as long as it's quality not quantity
a commanding centre back and a proven goal scorer is what we need

So, somewhere between Mick McCarthy, Dean Saunders and Billy Davies. Great.
Ffs this is about lambert not feckin muppet.
Yes tino he is the 4th coach in the job.
Sick of this feckin muppet love in.
Stop living in the past and embrace the new era and get behind the new regime.
And everyone on here is sick of you being negative about McCarthy and any player from his era. Moan about failures like Connor, Solbakken, Saunders and Zenga instead

I'm all for it, Perts. Shame we had to go through the last 4 years to get back to pretty well what we already had, (albeit a division lower). I am definitely optimistic - and I was initially optimistic about Zenga, as I was about Solbakken, before they actually showed their capabilities in this league.
I reckon and hope that, in terms of success, Lambert will rank between Kenny and Mick. If he does then I reckon promotion will happen in the next 18 months.
But will Fosun wait that long?

You live in the past dj you're welcome to it.
I want us to be successful now not just living on memories. Muppet failed full stop and so did the others, people are already slating Lambert and a ball hasn't even been kicked yet.
Mick was our most successful manager at this level in generations. Anyone who doesn't want Lambert to emulate him obviously doesn't have Wolves best interests at heart, only their own self interests and agendas.

I agree. Nothing less will do. It would need to be somewhere between the 2 to get us a play-off chance of promotion from this division.

wulfrun,
I hope lambert outperforms both KJ AND mick personally. but i'm sure you didn't mean it that way 😉
if we are comparing past managers and setting expectations, MM had three years to get us promoted. I am not sure lambert will be given that much time so he is goimg to have to work wonders and transform this team in half the length mick took. but he will have financial backing i hope and be given the support of fans even if we don't suddenly start winning by 4 or 5 goals every match.
The money that Fosun have should be able to fast track that 3 years
The mendes link will now be interesting Lambert is head coach not manager...he doesn't strike me as a yes man but our dynamic with the Mendes and Fosun ownership doesn't lend itself readily to a strong managerial type
