Iwobi is a better option on the wings than Ozil

Realistically can anyone really see Ozil making much of an impact on Saturday if he plays?

if we drop Santi we will lose the Mf battle

Not disputing that Ozil can create something out of nothing. However, it's these type of games where he goes missing and is hardly noticed

Ozil can't do it in big games against big players like Dembele. Is the reason Real got rid. He looks class against Bournemouth but good players dominate him.

Pool will win the league

They have a big advantage of not being in Europe but I cant see them getting their first ever PL title.

Not taking a stance either way because I appreciate what Ozil does bring to the table but I think Castor's bemoaning are brought from expectation and [other people's] hype.

Record signing, often cited as the best number 10 in the world, hyped by a lot of our fans (and some others to be fair) as the best 10 in the world and yet he does spend more time than you'd like on the periphery of games like these. You just want to see him boss a game from start to finish and clinically put a team to the sword. Like Wenger and Arsenal he and we never seem to completely destroy anyone we play regardless of our domination. Just like to see what real killer edge.

I don't necessarily agree with Castor but on days like today (and there have been a few) I understand the frustration.

Eriksen was better than Ozil today. If anything he's the opposite. Goes missing on the smaller occasions. Both good players but neither near world class.

They dont have the squad to do it.I know some wikll refer to Leicester but that was a once off.The pressure on Liverpool will be too much for those players to handle. They arent clinical aswell.

coutinho is in brilliant form though.

wasnt better and no opposite effect , He has been dog wenk all season.Lucky to be playing for Spurs due to your lack of depth.

does he even have a goal, or assist, or pre-assist? Rubbish player and reason why you cant score from open play

No need to get angry. Not my fault Ozil goes missing against tough opposition. As I say, I'm sure he looked amazing against Ludicrous or whatever they are called.

Do people understand what a number 10 is supposed to do? They dont boss games, they make decisive touches and contributions.. Did you not watch Bergkamp?

Problem for Oil is he has been brilliant from a young age and people expect him to be some dynamic player when he is actually the opposite

Yeah quite pleased mate. Thought you'd win comfortably so pleased overall.

Shame we couldn't win a couple of out preceding games against leicester, wba etc as we've lost ground on the other teams at the top

How are things anyway?

And in games like this, his decisive contributions are often few and far between. Again, not saying I agree with Castor, I just understand, particularly given that we're apparently talking about the 'best in the world'.

Some you go on like we have messi playing for us. Ozil has his moments in games and has played well in certain games but he has also gone missing on plenty of occasion.

Tired of bullsheite falsehoods like this. No.10's are some of the most decisive, productive, dominant players in history. Players like Di Stefano, and Puskas, and Cryuff, and Rivellino, and Platini and Zico and facking Maradonna and Baggio. They're not just there to play pretty passes around the pitch and play the pretty through balls. The decide and stamp their mark on games: and games of the biggest occasion. Even in English football, the likes of Keegan, and Dalglish, and in the PL era, the likes of Bergkamp and Cantona and Zola have the same effect.

Ozil has some amazing qualities, but we don't have to pretend he doesn't have fairly significant shortcomings that earns him the "luxury player" tag.

posted on 6/11/16

Not that he was in anyway the cause of today's loss. His was just one among many mediocre performances and many had worse games. Although for once, I'd like to see him in games like this when we're struggling take the game by the scruff and lift the team. He doesn't do that.
