Compelling session from Pakistan. But why have they taken lunch early at the request of smith.. it's not raining. what a joke. Ridiculous.. good on Micky Arthur for complaining to umps
Good session for Pakistan, looks like it will be on and off for the afternoon. New ball after lunch, if we start on time. Melbourne, the bleak city, 4 seasons in one day
Well played Azhar. Unfortunately with a day lost and more rain forcasted this tests looks to be heading for a draw. We should aim to get to 400 quickly as possible and then see if the bowlers can do some damage.
Looking like it will be a draw baring a miracle, I hope Pakistan can try and get to 400 and then see what the bowlers can do.
Amir has the real potential to be a proper all-rounder. Should bat at 7 when misbah and YK retire
Most teams number 8 batsman scores tons. A bit far fetched to promote him to 7.
I think teams seeing a 7-11 of
Amir
Wahab
Yasir
Sohail
Rahat
Will really fancy their chances. Doesn't give you your batting any balance. Especially losing 2 experienced and quality batsman in Younus and Misbah.
Imagine being 3-4 down early with no YK or Misbah and then 7-11 of the above.
You desperately need an all rounder to develop.
Teams are going to start leaving you behind. Cause they're able to pick at least 5 bowlers and not lose any batting strength.
Eng have Stokes, Woakes and Ali
India have Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant
Sri Lanka have Matthews
New Zealand have Satner and Neesham
The Aussies are struggling for quality genuine all rounders but they have what you would call 3 or 4 number 8's.
Serial,
We don't need to imagine being 3/4 down without YK and misbah because that's a reality these days (just includes them 2 being out cheaply) ... think Amir could be our next Akram.. he flirted between 7 and 8... can't see why he can't get an average of 25-30 in a year or so
An average of 25-30 isn't enough for your number 7 these days though.
Most of them average 40+
There is no rain. The delay is surprising. Never seen a series in austraila where play is stopped for a "possibility" of rain... wtf is going on? Aust will be loving it no doubt
Might as well shake hands now and call it a draw
Think we should throw the bat at it and declare in an hour if not all out
Morning all
"Might as well shake hands now and call it a draw"
Don't think Aus can win from here, but 400+ and get in with the ball, Pak can still win.

Two English umpires, so there can’t be any thoughts of biased umpires. If an umpire gives you the option of going of when it suits, why not take it?
Pak should be chasing runs now, not trying to stay around
Agree on the neutrality of umpire's Ozzie, just surprised that they go off/ don't start due to radar rather than actual weather.. probably because it's almost midnight and I wana see cricket or go to bed
Fair enough A14, bad enough during the day when it rains and play stops, let alone sitting up at midnight waiting. Still looks like there is rain about, but as I said yesterday, Melbourne will chuck all weathers at you during a single day

150* Azhar Ali - Well played lad!
Can't help but feel Pakistan have been a bit lucky in their innings.
Better from Pak the last few overs, should have enough now. Need to declare at lunch and see if Aus are good enough to save the game from here
Good knock from Azhar which has given us a good score. Australia have made a very good start to the innings so it's looking likely this will be a draw.
Looks like Warner had one of those days. Pressure back on Pakistan
An interesting days play, swinging both ways and finishing in the balance.
With 2 days to go, if Aus can knock off 165 and post a lead 150+ they can still win.
Pak clean Aus up by tea, bat well and post a lead with two sessions on a worn pitch for an exciting finish on Day 5.
Or it fizzles out to a dissappointing draw. Time will tell.
A good example of why test cricket is so much better than the shorter forms
