Played alien isolation on it yet?
Sorry Baz, no alien isolation yet, but there are a few experiences that will get your heart pumping.
VR takes horror to a whole new level. I think you might like it.
Yup, think AI would be a hellish experience..looking forward to something like that!
Will be interesting to see if they eventually make the PSVR compatible with PC. Sony really dropped the ball never releasing the drivers for the Dualshock 3 on PC, resulting in Xbox utterly dominating the PC controller market.
Can see why they'd maybe want to restrict it for the first few months, but after the initial sales rush putting a relatively budget VR headset on PC would likely be a huge boost. Then again, Japanese companies are weird when it comes to PC compatibility.
Dropped the ball?
How many 360 controllers do you think ms sold JUST for pc? Very few is the answer in relativeness to console sales of the same thing
And why would they want to open up their headset to a smaller demographic that already has 2 huge competitors? They want people to buy their hardware, PC stuff in the long run benefits more or less just ms, bad business plan
There was a time I too wondered if it would be a good idea for Sony to allow PSVR to be used with PC, then I realised it would be beneficial to VR adoption but not necessarily Sony.
For the reasons Simon points out.
My take on the PS Pro and at the same time Xbox Scorpio is if you have the PS4/Xbox one then there isnt much point... the only real thing in terms of gaming that you are paying for is slightly better definition of graphics. Think about it unless there are games that are being specifically designed for either console that will not be released on PS4/Xbox one then every game will have to be made to run on the older consoles therefore really not making use of any extra juice in the newer consoles its purely a graphical upgrade.
it is certainly a graphical upgrade, aimed specifically at 4K HDR TV's, it does offer quite a pronounced difference apparently, so if you have a 4k HDR it could be worth the upgrade to make the most of it.
I will probably have a look in the new year, but I have a feeling 8k is just around the corner.
That Eagle Flight game looks superb
yeah been looking at that, but waiting for Journey, so will give that a go first.
But I can imagine flying around Paris in VR would be quite an experience.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
8k already exists!
8k is also somewhat pointless in the current format ("small screens" we use. Also people/tv companies wont upgrade so quickly. Most designers are saying hdr is more important than pixels.
Yeah it will be a couple of years yet
I'm well aware of that 1man, but 8k is not mainstream, once it is 4k will be even cheaper and my choices bigger.
Amiga mate 8k wont be mainstream for a good 5 years or potentially never. We are ways off a 4k infrastructure, 8k will be niche for quite a while. Like computer chips i feel we are getting to a ceiling of cost vs neccessity. I see more different types of screen than higher res as quite frankly there is little point to 8k screens in the current formats
I agree Simon, but 8k will affect the market, I think 8k will start to make it's mark next year, but as you say the infrastructure isn't there, even for 4k ( at least no properly)
Simon, that makes no sense. For one, Xbox 360 controllers are very popular amongst PC users. It costs practically nothing to release the drivers for a controller so providing you make a profit on your controllers, it only makes sense to also market them for PC. It was a stupid decision by Sony not to allow the PS3 controller to be used on PC, as evidenced by their push for PS4 controllers to be used on PC. They realised their mistake, albeit a bit late.
And what's the problem with going up against competitors rather than keeping in a closed market? The PSVR costs £349, which is a massive undercut compared to the Oculus' £549 and the Vive's £759. The PSVR if released for PC could utterly blow those out of the water. Again, if they actually make a profit on the headset then it's insane not to release it to a wider audience, albeit it might be best to wait until the initial sales rush of PS4 Pros.
But again, Japanese company.
I doubt it would to be fair, Pc gamers that are interested would invest more in the top end of the technology (they tend to be more snobby with things like that...)
Is there any plans for an untethered one in the future for ps?
Hobo you missed my important point, why would Sony want to, they have a much bigger base (60 million by the end of the year and growing)?
Just on PS4 means more sales for Sony where it counts - and thats not hardware!
Also if you payed $1200 to play games it means you want the best, undercutting isnt really a thing in PC gaming
Nothing about being a Japanese company, you seem to be struggling with the concept of just closing their market and maximising it, selling vr headsets on PC makes them no money, thats why they wont do it.
At the moment Sony has the clear VR advantage when it comes to consoles (pretty obvious when MS doesn't have one) It is another reason to own a Playstation and an oportunity for Sony to become a leading figure in VR.
It would make no sense for Sony to let that advantage go, VR is going to be huge and Sony are one of those leading the charge.
BTW Melton, untethered VR is certainly being worked on ( among other things) Vive have already shown a device, although it's nowhere near ready.
The problem is latency, which kills the VR experience and causes motion sickness, there is just too much information to do wirelessly (at least at the moment)
Wireless will happen, but for me resolution is the thing I most want to see improved, which i'm sure will be by version 2.
just downloaded something called Martian, based on the film with Matt Damon it offers various clips from the film and a few simple VR tasks to fulfill.
Absolute waste of time and money, lasted about ten minutes, half of which was clips from the film, the rest meaningless tasks, such as sorting 6 potatoes into a small and big bin.
Why Sony have allowed this to make it on the VR store I have no idea, especially at the price, I feel robbed.
I have to admit Amiga, your PSVR posts have definitely piqued my interest.
Previously I had been quite happy to wait and see what the content had to offer over a longer period, plus naturally the price would come down.
However I went onto Amazon to check availability - it's out of stock until after Christmas - however I have found it elsewhere for the RRP (and plenty charging a lot more )
Anyway my biggest concern is that it is gimicky and that after the initial new toy effect wears off I wont end up using that much. Taking into consideration that you pay the same cost for the kit as a new gaming system - and that doesn't include peripherals - I am still not 100% sure.
But interest piqued for sure
I think its a thing to do when your single...
I mean I barely find the time to play my playstation at all somtimes, let alone sitting in a mask with the Missus and kids running around
Wiretapper, I think you will see that PSVR is a game system (and more) in it's own right, it offers a totally new gaming perspective, you can't get any other way, and the more I use it the more I realise it's potential.
Having said that, This is just the beginning for VR, it has a lot of growing up to do, think of it as the first mobile phone, it worked but has grown up into so much more.
it is only a matter of time before we are all using VR, it's just a matter of when, not if you jump in.

I've never been an early adopter anyway but in one or two years, I think it will be there. I agree with amiga, I think it's here to stay, it's just a matter of where it ends up. Hololens looks good too.
