I've been to one game at Murrayfield and really enjoyed the fanzone. It's something football could really learn from, although it does help that Murrayfield has the extra space around the stadium.
Having said that I also popped into the ice rink at the western side of the ground for a pint before going in. It was quiet!
Getting to booze during the game is very enjoyable too.
As for pubs, anywhere around where you are staying will be fine. Are you making a night of it?
Shut it Curly
Yeah we are staying over Ivan but not sure how long i will last the pace if we are afternoon drinking
Thought the fanzone looked pretty decent. Think the Xmas Market starts this weekend too so might take a wander through there.
Its a 5pm kick off and they apparently do this "lights off" thing before the teams come out. Have heard good things about it.
LMC
If you're near the castle then you'll probably gravitate towards the grassmarket, but I'm sure you'll be fine.
If your husband suggests moving on from the Grassmarket up towards Westport, and particularly if he mentions a pub called the Western, I'd be suspicious.
Are you making a night of it?
She's married Ivan FFS!!!!
Are you?
im going through LMC looking forward to it, my first time at the rugby also
are we not all married on here now??
Yeah quite like the Grassmarket area so probably head in that direction. Or should i say stagger..
Nice one Ghod. Have always fancied getting along to a match, looks like a good atmosphere. Edinburgh always good for a night out too

Haud on here.
LMC is going through. No mention of her husband.
Ghod going through for his "first time" at the, cough, rugby, cough.
I think we all know what's happening here.
Plenty of pubs in the Grassmarket. Ivan is referring to one of the 'naughty' pubs of the so-called 'Pubic Triangle'.
Being a bit of a beer buff, I would drink in the Bow Bar just off the Grassmarket but obviously it depends what you want.
If you're on the Princes Street side of the Castle there are loads of pubs in Rose Street and nearby.
The Western is the best one though BH. By far the sleaziest.
So I've heard anyway
There a decent bar at haymarket station platform 5 I think its called.
think we're gonna head through at 12 for the united v arsenal game then have a wee stoat about the xmas market n stuff
The what triangle???
Its all very innocent Ivan honest, just coincidence.
never been into rugby tbh.
tried...
If you like your gin you should go into the Jolly Botanist beside Haymarket. You won't regret it. They do about 50 different gins.

The Haymarket is a decent pub. Thomson's would be the best beer bufff's pub round there.
