Pragmatism from Timothy Speirs: "No criticism at all from me for a solid point and clean sheet. Just a dreadful game to watch, low on quality. First building block in place."
Well that was absolutely dire, not many pluses at all apart from the clean sheet. I just hope that isn't a sign of things to come.
Stopped the early give away goal and nearly gave it away late on, clean sheet, move on.

And we've gained a point on Mick. Little steps and all that.

Mick smokes goats, wait till Lambo finished.....you'll be begging for Saunders to come back !!!
seems a mealy mouthed spoilt brat reaction on here to me.
we were 19th on a run of 5 defeats in 6 and playing the team 3rd on current form/
the rot has been stopped, credit lambert for that
Nobody credits me for the MT, feck em !
We need a massive clear out in the next 2 transfer windows. Players have to go no ifs or buts.

Yes, Ifs and Buts must go.
He will get some slack for a while Wolfgang, no problem with today but let's not pretend he has inherited a broken team because he hasn't, it is still early in the season.
The play offs are the rightful expectation and we are only nine points off with over thirty games to come.

It is as accurate a sign as you will get. I did warn folk that this is what you will get with Lambert - stoic draws with little attacking intent.
But for a relegation haunted club, that is just what we need right now.
Not a thriller for sure but very reassuring to see us looking so organised defensively. Iorfa and Hause both produced their best performance of the season with Hause probably his best for Wolves and my man of the match.
dortmund beating bayern 1-0 in the worlds biggest game of the day
At Villa, Lambert had pretty much sold off of alienated all their wide players and played negative football towards the end. You could kind of forgive him there, in the sense that he was fighting a losing battle with the lack of investment as the squad declined.
He has come to Wolves and in his first game has played only one recognised winger, with three defensively minded midfielders on the pitch. His first substitution in a dour 0-0 draw is to take off a striker and bring on mediocre midfielder who has been less than impressive in the last 18 months. Meanwhile our record signing (who incidentally is an attacking player) has to settle for five minutes from the bench. In 90 minutes we had one shot on target.
I suppose we should be grateful for the clean sheet following recent performances defensively. It's not a promising start though, when you consider the new managers previous record.
Only one match but worrying signs.
Our midfield in the second half was Wallace, Coady, Price and Saville. No creativity or flair whatsoever.
We did look more solid but Preston could and should have won it with their late chances and we never looked liked scoring.
Saville is a conman of McIndoe proportions. An absolute waste of a shirt.

I think that is a legitimate concern tam.
Worries me that his mentality seems to be that we are broken when I don't think we are at all if the players at our disposal are used correctly.
Are we going to see a balanced all-round attacking team performance generally? That's what fans should hope for, and though I understand the caution of playing negatively in this first away game, it won't be tolerated for long, if it turns out to be Lambo's modus operandi.
After one match and against a Preston side that has been flying high and all I'm reading is the negative crap yet again. How many would have settled for a clean sheet and a point?
Give PL a friggin chance to sort out his squad and stop bitching.
He will be given a chance.
But he won't be given much slack by the fans or fosun, he has more at his disposal than just about anyone in theeague.

The trouble is the players he has aren't good enough. Most of them need shipping out and that will take time.
Good point today against one of the form teams in the division. I would say defensively one of the most impressively organised performances from a Wolves back line in recent years.
Going forward it is increasingly a concern that we don't have the right players despite the big investment. bodvarsson seens to be fighting a lone battle with Mason and Edwards, when played forward, the only two that have supported him well in the final third. Eno didn't look ready today but will hopefully get more chances, while Costa has been generally good this season but today was poor. Cavaleiro hasn't impressed much so far and Teixeira has shown occasional ability but has increasingly looked a bit of a luxury. Can't see Saville and Wallace being the answer. Wallace was terrible again when he came on today. So not easy to see where many goals will come from whoever is selected.
Be good to see us play an open attractive game but I certainly wouldn't knock lambert after one game for not doing so. He was appointed Norwich manager after his Colchester team went to Carrow Road and won 7-0. That doesn't give the impression of a manager only sending out teams to be defensive to me, but time will tell

We just signed 13, I suppose players from Monaco and Portugal are crap now as well then or just maybe it's a management problem up til this point.
