Where did I say it was a penalty?
It was a red card.
You must be Van Dijk's mum or something, you are a bit obsessed with him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never a red card, the ref saw it well. It didn't help that Firminho fell to the ground so dramatically either.
I'm a cb myself and can't help but admire his calmness on the ball and under pressure. I'm fond of players with tenacity, vigilance and finesse.
I'm also tired of people talking out of their asses without any decent knowledge about the game in overall. Like what makes a good defender, midfield, striker, the nuances, which space to defend or run into, positional awareness, subtle physical hindering, etc etc. But this site is more interested in the banal side of football. And that's fine too as long as there is fair assessment.
How is a blatant pull to deny a goal scoring opportunity not a red card?
I couldn't care less if you play scrum half.
You are talking balls if you think it wasn't a foul.

It's subject to opinion. The ref definately didn't think it was a foul. And I am not saying that Virgil never makes a mistake, no defender does. I do am aware of your tunnelvision though, it makes a bad case for you.

I will tell you this.
Even IF it was a horrible horrrrrrrible foul and IF van Dijk played the entire match bad, I mean really bad.. would you really condemn the player as a bad one? Even if he had an amazing two seasons in the EPL.
The only good answer is: NO.
So I assume you have a brain and will so no.. then you still have no point to make. Virgil will still be one of the best in Europe. So ... yeah.
You are really weird.
1) You don't know the ref didn't think it was a foul. He probably didn't see the pull as would have been blindsided.
2) I never said he played badly or was bad.
3) You are really weird, and don't actually read anything.
Good clean sheet, but mane, couts and firmino looked all off the pace, both sturridge and origi should've been on much earlier

It's called checkmate, mate. You don't have any good arguments. All you do is reiterate how it should be a foul, a penalty and how that should detract from Virgils overall quality as a worldclass defender. You know what really is weird? Tunnelvision. Your need to focus on one small aspect that causes you to lose the sense of reality/the broader scope.
