come on - only 5 years ago Keaton captained the South Africa under 19's side against England.

Durham had to prove to the ECB that he came into the country only a few weeks before the ECB's new rule of 7 years came into force in April 2012.

Serial - Hypocrite? - please explain? or is this another one of your flippant comments, posted on here with no thought behind it.?

I'm stating you're a hypocrite because clearly your undercurrent tone to Jennings' nationality is one of disapproval. Yet at the same time we have by your own admission, English posters supporting India and every team England play against despite the fact they were born in this country and consider themselves English.

You can't have it both ways.

where are your articles on the Irish football team? There must be 8-10 players in that side that have a distant Irish relative that now play for the Irish team. The difference being, half of them have never been to Ireland before getting their first cap!

He's resided here for a number of years and his mother is English. My mother is Italian so I consider myself half Italian. I could play for the Italian cricket team if there was one...

Jenning - no explanation needed
Rashid - Spotted in Yorkshire's Acadamy team, played for the England under 19's
Ali - Born in and raised in England. PLayed England under 19's
Hameed - Born in England - Played England under 19's
Ansari - Born in England

Morgan - First line in Wikipedia. "Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan (born 10 September 1986) is an IRISH cricketer who captains the England national cricket team in One Day Internationals and Twenty 20 International." Has represented Ireleand at international level + and Played for Ireland Under 19's

Now where someone is born is irrelevant, I was only stating this to prove that England can take credit form the players representing them. In the case of Morgan and Keaton, they cannot

What has English posters supporting India\PAkistan have anything to do with this??

Agree his Mother is English and he can represent England.

My point is he came through the South African Academy, as schooled and learnt his trade in South Africa, Represented South Africa a under 19's level against England. Its not as if he came to England at an early age and came through the English cricketing system.

He has been in England for 4 years. Just scraping the eligibility of 4 years, before the 7 year rule kicked in.

I was born in England and SUPPORT India.
Jennings was born and raised in South Africa and REPRESENTS The England cricket team.

To make this a hypocritical comment it would be either:

Me being born and raised in Enlgand and respenting England under 19's, and then representing India at cricket

Or Jennings just supporting England and me disapproving.

I'm not broken, your being Stupid.

Serial - if lets say Joe Root - Came through England's coaching system, represented and captained England and Under 19's and was highly regarded and talked about, but then jumped ship, lived in India for 4 years and then started playing for them...we would be hearing a different tune from some England fans.

Oh my word. What is the point in trying to educate half wits like yourself.

To repeat... you are a hypocrite because you have no sort of moral objection to English born people supporting India/Pakistan etc yet you have an apparent moral objection to a lad playing his cricket for another nation despite the fact that his mother comes from the SAME nation and the fact he has lived in the same country for over 4 years.

posted on 7/12/16

If Joe Root did the above, had an Indian mom and considered himself Indian then fine by me.

*bangs head against desk*

I have an issue because he was coached in South Africa and represented and Captained the South African Under 19's team.

I do have an objection with this.

p.s. Supporting and Representing are quite different.

When England were struggling with their middle order - in came KP and Trott

When they needed some hitters - in came Morgan

Struggling for an opening partner for Cook - in came Keaton.

Wonder who the ECB will sign in January's transfer window? a spinner maybe?

Players like Strauss, Stokes, Prior have been bought up being English despite being born abroad but the like of Trott, Morgan and this new guy are only English due to the riches.

Trott was celebrating a SA series win against England with Grahame Smith, Kallis and co and then all of a sudden decided to become English.

Rugby is the same and i'm glad football even though we are poor has not gone down this route.

its a funny old debate this really

both my parents were born abroad, so was i but came here as a kid. I see myself as british as its all i know but always supported Pakistan as did siblings born here simply due to family really

I was always told support England as that is where you live/work etc and fair enough. Only time I had issues with it is when politicians made statements back in the day

By that notion, ie support where you are, i dont ee how then someone like keaton should be happily accepted into england squad

Its having your cake and eating it, no?

I would have happily played for england myself over pakistan

weird no?

This guy is 100℅ SA. Born over there and then captained the u19. Came over to England and 4 years later in the England team.

As always the England motto is if in doubt call up a South African.
