what probably hurts is the fact that we've seen Rojo make 2 worse challenges in the last 2 weeks and get away with it and then a sickening one from barkley last night which was only a yellow!

While I accept I don't know the laws letter for letter, I tend to ask two questions of these incidents:

1. Was it intentional?
2. If not, was it reasonably avoidable?

For this challenge, I'm happy that it wasn't intentional. So the question is whether it's reckless. The tussle beforehand casts doubt on that - the whole question of the two-footed challenge is about leaving the ground in order to make it, but when the tussle (not an unfair tussle BTW) knocks him of balance, in a split second he finds himself still trying to make what could well have been a far more reasonable-looking and controlled challenge but knocked into the air rather than deliberately or recklessly choosing to leave the ground. That, to me, casts easily enough doubt on the second question to tell me that it shouldn't have been a red card.

However, as with the DRS in cricket, I suspect the FA will decide that it's ambiguous enough not to overrule the on-field decision.

Speedy response but not much of a surprise Vardy's appeal has failed.

Just as an aside to the referees performance

The booking Craig Pawson awarded to Erik Pieters has been switched to Bruno Martins-Indi due to "mistaken identity"
