I heard this a lot, on bbc thread it said mignolet made a mistake for stoke's goal...nonsense. Great cross, rocket header and yeah he got a hand to it and maybe should have kept it out. But was not a massive mistake by any stretch, some shots are just that powerful.
Yeah I found that really confusing. I was far more annoyed at Lovren for letting his man get in front of him, and Mane/Clyne for dicking about and not closing down the man with the ball. I found little fault with Mig for the goal. Unless maybe he could have given a shout to (i think it was) Klavan to let him catch the ball instead of him hoofing it up into the air seconds before.
That was not an error or blunder by Mig. ffs not all goals are keepers fault. it was a hard header and Lovren lost his man but there is now a tenancy to just blame.e the keeper esp if they get their hands to it. his save from allen was fantastic and kept us in the game yet there was hardly any praise for that.
I'm quite happy with our goalkeepers now. Mignolet started the season rather well and certainly did nothing that warranted him being dropped for Karius, who just basically walked into the team unchallenged. Karius has had a couple of mistakes in him, and I think him being dropped will give him a big kick up the backside which he probably needed. On the other hand, Mignolet being dropped in the first place appears to have given him a kick up the backside as, although he had done nothing wrong in his first spell this season, he looks even better to me since his return. He also seems more in command of his area too. I was at the match last night and was towards the Anfield Road end of the ground, and could clearly hear Mignolet, up at the Kop end, shout for everyone to leave the ball for him at one point.
Having said all that, I wouldn't be against Joe Hart coming in should he become available. But I would certainly not expect him to just walk into the team like Karius did.
I didn't see anything wrong with Mignolet for that goal either (maybe positioning)
Once you have a story/agenda you can roll with, then it's going to be milked as much as possible. We've been told how our defence will let us down all season, but we are still the only team looking most likely to challenge Chelsea.
Lucky for us Klopp handles the media so well

Agree with all of this but I highly doubt wed have Hart, Karius and Hart all playing for us.
Not sure Mignolet can be solely to blame for their goal. Mane headed it straight to Pieters, we didn't stop the cross, and Walters got in front of his man. All three could have been avoided before Mignolet was even called into action.
Don't see him mentioning about his save at 0-1 to keep us in the game? If it'd gone 0-2 we wouldn't have won yesterday.

I agree with the OP that Mig wasn't at fault for the goal but top goalkeepers bail you out sometimes like he did with the Allen chance.

Hart is no better than what we have already.
Hart isca decent keeper but i dont think hes that good anymore tbh. i think he has regressed in the last 2yrs personally.
I agree. Treating players like wh0res is no way to treat players, especially those of your own club. And Karius is a teenager in goalkeeper years ffs, give him time or gtfo
Karius has the makings of a very good keeper, all he needs is time.

You obviously didnt listen to what he said because he blamed Mignolet for the goal.
Carragher is like a more palatable version of Paul Merson. Talks like the average football fan in the pub and has no clue on football.
I actually admire Gary Neville for sitting on the sunday supplement and although he was attacked he stood his ground and defended himself even though I still think he was wrong and him and Carragher tried to bully Karius by telling him to shut his Gob. carragher could never do that. He simply says absurd things and is so out of touch.
i was shoclked at the things he said about Raheem Sterling. I have no problem a pundit who is a liverpool hero pulling a young liverpool p;layer to the side and giving him advice. But what Carra does on TV in public is embarassing and he makes Roy Keane look like an angel. He could never manage in todays game and makes sense why he hasnt even done his badges
So you disagree with what I posted about what he said?
Never like carra the pundit
He very early on criticised Mig for screaming at the defenders when he pulled off a save saying shut up and do your job!
This is beyond stupid as anyone that knows anything about goalkeeping knows they anticipate danger and see a fuller picture so when the opposing team creates a shooting opportunity the goalkeeper should (in theory) let the defenders know where they went wrong ie not marking or tracking runners etc
As Carra was a defender this comment baffled me as he should know how this works but he lost some credibility in my eyes and he hasn't impressed me much with his 'insight'
Even GN is becoming a little boring now although he's still up there with the best pundits around.
Obviously Carra doesn't like/rate Mig but again yestersays criticism was ott
Can't say I agree with most in here I'm afraid.
It should have been a routine save- if he anticipates the danger he would have been in a better position to palm it away with both hands. Keepers should not be be beaten at their near post like that.
Apart from that though I thought Mig had a very good game. Claimed the ball well and it was an excellent save from Allen to stop us going 2-0 down which was a huge moment in the game, very likely the difference between 0 and 3 points for us. He's definitely a better option than Karius who's just a nervous wreck.
If you want to be a regular top team you do need a better keeper. He's bang on the money.
