Liverpool as underdogs

Op...as the game comes closer, I am actually getting more and more confident. We have a great team and the three recent results doesn't change that.

Winning at OT in this season I would almost make us favs for the title, bearing in mind recent cfc news and the fact we would have beaten cfc, arsenal and utd away from home. If that happens, then that is title credentials.

If form goes out the window then how can any of the two teams be considered underdogs/favourites?

Mentality going into the game.

I certainly think some of the Utd fans are underestimating us.

We have lost 3 out of 26.

Sure they are on a good run, but they haven't beat anyone.

They beat Spurs back on 11th December when Spurs had won 3 out of 12 before the game.

This is the first real test of this new Man Utd. They might pass it, but we are a hard team to beat and Klopp has a good record against Mourinho and doesn't lose two games in a row very often.

Their fans are getting a bit too excited.

If the roles were reversed we'd be saying the same things the United lads are.

Selb..spot on. Look, utd can beat us of course they can, but our play and results this season deserves some respect.

Its like utd fans have not realised we beat cfc, arsenal, everton away and drew with spurs away, they forget how good we are because we lost to saints etc.

I dont mind actually, I really have a very good feeling losing to saints may turn out to be good for us..bizarrely

You beat arsenal on opening day 4-3 and they had holding n chambers at CB.

You also got Chelsea at a good time. Not when they found their way.

So those games weren't as impressive as they appear to be at first glance.

Still better than losing 4-0.

Liverpool have a good team that Klopp is gettung the best out of. However if I, as a United fan, can't be confident of winning a home game in rhe PL then we might as well give up. We rightly stated Moyes for his negativity so I can't be like that myself. Having said that this is the game I look forward to and dread the most each season.

Hopefully it'll be a good game with the right team winning. Actually no, who am I kidding? Don't care if it's a dire game as long as we win!

I've seen some ridiculous things said by both sets of fans Got_Better can't stop for instance. I didn't realise he had a reputation for this type of thing until somebody pulled up the Carrol and Adams are better than Aguero and Modric articles he created.

At the same time I have seen a lot more supporters on both sides pooing their pants about the match on Sunday.

We both finished outside the top 4 last season, we've both made good investments but so have the rest. It still wouldn't surprise me if we both finished outside the top 4 this season even though I am much more confident now.

If Matip doesn't play tomorrow am I right in saying that you will be playing practically the same team that finished 8th last season? If so I'm confident but I still wouldn't be surprised if we lost all 3 points.

Mane is a huge loss and could have been a deciding factor, something I'm very happy about.

It would be the same team except for Wijnaldum and Klavan. We are a year further into the teams development under Klopp's system and Lallana and Coutinho these season have gone up a level.

underdogs maybe but also remember by game time there's a possibility of Liverpool being outside the top 4

Beat city at home 2 weeks ago, tell us why that was dead easy and not impressive.

Because City are useless against you. They have an utterly dismal record vs Liverpool throughout pl era.

Your hardest and toughest Game is tomorrow and you know it.

posted on 14/1/17

Didn't think you played that great vs city either. Better than them but was a poor game.

posted on 14/1/17

if anything your humping of Chelsea prompted them to sort their formation and team out, damn you Liverpool! you could have let them off with a draw and they would still be wallowing in mediocrity

posted on 14/1/17

Yeah dont give us any credit whilst you've been beating relegation fodder in your amazing run

Absolute numpty

You're definitely the hardest of all the non winners of the pl, that's for sure.

spurs at home was just as tough but yeah I think the fact its Liverpool does add a tiny bit more to it

Traditionally Liverpool is our biggest match. It is for me.

Results wise it's not been our toughest over pl era though. We have 27 wins to Liverpool's 13.

Chelsea is a tougher match. Not bigger or more important though.

Good article.

Worry is seeing how on fire Spurs are at the moment (2 up against WBA). If Man C and Arsenal get good results (the latter with +4 goal difference) and we lose against the old foe we'll be out of the Top 4.
Then the questions will need to be asked I think.

It just shows how competitive it is this season. Whatever happens, two good teams are not going to get Champions League football.

I thought it was 5 if either us or spurs win Europa but finish outside top 4?
