Wouldn't worry too much.

Chinese government are clamping down on it and introducing spending caps so it'll all blow over.

Also, English football (top league) has been on the edge for over a decade.

I mind watching a documentary years ago on the state of finances in the Premier League/Premiership as it was then and if I remember correctly clubs were spending over 90% of their income on wages

Most were either running at a loss or barely turning a profit.

the fact its not English clubs spending the money is why the media and a lot of fans have their knickers in a twist, its like the bully(English league) who has dominated the revenue of the global football market in recent years but now a bigger stronger player comes along and they get upset

i can't imagine they would as what they often say means nothing in all honesty.

they a billion plus population and that is alot of football people to capture in an industry that's already lucrative

It may drive wages in england to the 400k-600k mark that the chinese are offereing

China is far from the problem.

Football was gubbed as soon as Murdoch got involved and the big clubs became to powerful to control.

If anything the Chinese thing is a bit of a blessing, if they start poaching players from Europe then the playing field will level a bit. But even more than that, it will take the traditional European super powers being under threat from another continent before we get any real positive change.

fair point

but do i want that change. what memories do you have of Chinese clubs growing up?

European clubs and leagues at some point in time have given us joy same to as English teams.

I just think it will sink the likes of Scotland and Holland etc as money will be driven further from the European and British market.

plus there is already too much football on tv imo

we can't see anything without paying heavy subs

for heavens sakes bbc england pay 400M for eng prem highlights yet we live on 15M a year for our football.

I don't see how Scotland will benefit from a new world order.

Probably won't but England will suffer

--------------------------------------------------------------------thing is, it might but i think it will drive up the wage imo

what baffles me also is that chelsea are willing to spend 500M on redevelopment of Stamford bridge to increase the stadium by a few thousand.

ticket prices will go up for sure.

football will become a toffs game, if you have money feck the theatre lets go to the fitbaw hahahaha!

I have no sympathy for English hypocrisy on Chinese money ruining football.

I doubt it will impact Scottish football negatively.

Anyway, all the players targeted are those connected with the superagents who like to buy ownership of players. I despise those agents and would be glad to see their influence on the European game diminish.

Yeah

But what memories do you have of Man City and Chelsea growing up?

These are yo-yo sides who can now bury us all.

There are teams I grew up with from Red Star to Standard Liege to PSV who will never be anything again thanks to traditional bottom of the table sides in England who just so happen to have attractive post codes.

I certainly won't weep for them.

Like I say, it's a moot point anyway as the Chinese government are going to be capping spending.

is it hypocrisy? i think its' fear in all honesty.

the people running the game have done a great job imo but ownership rules weren't particularly great resulting in the size of English football today.

that's whats stirring the debate in Germany and Spain.

I think the impact on Scotland will be massive that we will be competing to keep our already chump change of 15M intact.

clubs should be ground sharing etc, certainly the smaller clubs

All it is, is our league and all leagues writ large
Celtic and formerly Rangers could outbuy any Scottish clubs in the same way these clubs can outbuy Celtic
Hypocrisy if you loathe them but accept you can pash all over other SPL clubs financially
----------------------------------------------------------------------

True in a way

But our financial advantage in Scotland is largely an honest one.

We were all working on a level playing field and good financial management, along with a large support is responsible for the financial gulf in Scottish football.

To me at least that is way different to the artificial advantage these "corporate" clubs have now.

This article mainly focuses on overseas investment but it shows that the Chinese government are monitoring the current situation and aren't happy about it.

what does that mean?

Teams take as much advantage of the situations they find themselves in.
No different in Scotland than England
Just the numbers / values are bigger down south.

Of course it's hypocrisy. They were more than happy to use their financial clout to cripple other markets. Now their bemoaning the Chinese doing the same to them.

good point's lads

the other aspect is jobs and disposal income.

if English football is receiving such cash on a yearly basis how doe's the TV companies survive?

economies are never and steady tv subs etc are becoming ever more expensive. so jobs loses etc to the working man surely will have an effect on income etc to these companies then theres the streaming sites you can watch footie for free.
