Chelsea recall Bamford.
Get him in.
Improved bid made for Marshall.
Tom Lawrence is on fire right now. Can see someone coming in for him. Would he suit us?
Also, the lad at Grimsby, Omar Bogle, looks a promising striker.
No point going big now
Play offs are gone and I don't see us going down
May as well save as much as we can for the summer
Bogle looks interesting he's been mentioned a few times. I guess we won't really see any activity if any at all until we get rid of a few more.
we can't spend that much anyway, certainly not on the £8-10m striker that would probably make this team a threat rather than just a comfortable mid-table side. on that basis, one or two more signings to bring in players that PL thinks will suit his system, and continue to off-load those we don't need.
not sure that marshall at £2m+ is worth it when he'll be free in the summer, and when coady has started to look ok at RB. if we can't sell iorfa, we'd then have 4 RBs which given PL's moan about having 5 CBs seems a bit odd.
as I've said before, i'd try a couple of relatively cheap bids for proven goalscorers from the 3rd and 4th division to see if we can drop lucky with a guy in form. lawrence, taylor, bogle, miller...all seem to be doing ok at a level not much below ours.
based on FFP we should be able to spend £10m+ in the summer again...this time hopefully on just three or four quality additions who will improve the match day squad.
We should always be looking to do business but it isn't critical.
Fact is we have plenty good enough players we don't even use in Saiss and Tex, both of which have already shown how good they can be.
The play offs are highly unlikely with us needing maybe 12/13 wins from 20 odd games.
12 or 13 wins is do able the way things are looking. The whole atmosphere and feeling at the games has changed. We have to make Molineux a fortress now
We won't win that many games with our current midfield, simple as that.
Things could change but I doubt it, which is fine at this stage so long as we are making strides toward a promotion charge next season.
Agree Perts, playoffs unlikely but possible.
Strange window so far but, as usual most of the business is in the last day or two. A bit surprised a few more haven't left yet.
Cinci agree about Saiss, but not sure that Tex will ever be consistent enough to play a decent 90 minutes let alone a full season. He can produce 2 or 3 minutes of genius in a match but we can't afford that luxury.
I agree with you on tex, wulfrun,
if he was our player i'd say persist with him and see if he comes good as there's talent if not consistency. as he is on loan and is not what PL wants then we may as well save on the wages and get rid now...assuming we can terminate the loan or sub-loan him on (as we did with ola john).
i'd rather see ronan, JG and gibbs-white getting a chance now in the creative/attacking side of the team. they may have a future with us - tex doesn't.
Yeah, no probs losing Tex as he won't be here next season regardless but we will no doubt see him regularly on a Tuesday/Wednesday in the CL soon enough.
Never been much of a fan of loans that won't be permanent anyway, don't see what we gain as we try and build.
With the games that we have coming up we will know by the end of February if we will make the play offs.
20 games to go and realistically needing 44 points to reach 76 points to have a good chance.
12 wins 8 draws 0 defeats
13 wins 5 draws 2 defeats
I have seen nothing to suggest we are capable of that.
Not a prayer.
We lose Costa in the summer to mighty Watford or some other much bigger club with £100m to spend. We are light years from promotion ANY season, let alone this one.
Disagree ^^^^^^
Watford will be relegated, Costa will go to Bournemouth
Bournemouth already has a Costa and a Starbucks.
Talk that Wolves have made an improved offer for Blackburn's Ben Marshall and that it is likely to be accepted
Anyone know why we need a winger/rightback?
So we can turn him into a striker
Seems a lot of money for something that cannot be considered a problem position to me.
Guess time will tell should the deal go through.
FFP will put a stop to any more investment before the end of the season.
All we have is £15m or so each year. That gets you one decent Championship striker or 20 wingbacks from League One
Morgan was RAA. You make your own players.
Fosun are largely irrelevant. They could make £1bn available to spend, but we won't be able to. I have got a feeling that Moxey didn't mention FFP during negotiations and nobody from China thought to ask.
It does kind of make a mockery of our policy in the summer, signing all manner of players whether we needed them or not is surely not going to help our situation, club was a shambles to be honest this summer, no direction at all.
It is going to take a number of years to unpick the mess. Each passing year, though, puts us miles further beyond the West Broms, Watfords and Burnleys who are making hundreds of millions.
FWIW I reckon there will come a stepping stone move from TPTB to a European Super League over the next ten years - which will be to split the Premiership up into two leagues.
The SKY 6 plus Everton, Newcastle, Leeds (or whoever goes up and stays up with a large fanbase) and perhaps one or two others.
Dross like West Brom, Bournemouth, Leicester, Watford, Boro, Burnley, Palace etc will form a second league.
It's definitely coming.
