Kneedude

Yeah there are fans of all clubs that are gobshiites who also don't go the match. I don't agree with Rapt tarring all the Liverpool fans on here who don't go, for whatever reason, with that brush though.

I do think going to the game is important and I've called out people on this before.

Plenty of united fans I know here at home, who tend to shout the loudest don't go, or have never been to a game, for me these lads aren't worth their salt and I don't listen to them. Same for several reds I knwo too.

Same for ROI, so many times I hear some casual fan say "the atmosphere was crap" I always call them out asking why they didn't go to help it, never get a resonable answer to that.

I don't go to games.

And I don't give a single flying feck about what anyone else thinks of that nor do I feel the need to justify my fandom to anyone

Feet dude I know, and I wouldn't take Raptor too seriously here, but for me if you live in the UK / Ireland you should go to a game where possible, it's by far the best way to watch football.

Do we need to justify why we love a particular club?

I am from Wales originally.
My eldest brother is a Spur's fan - not sure why....
I started supporting Liverpool after they thrashed his beloved Spurs 7-0 in 1978 - I was nine then and loved being able to mock him.

Have been to see games at Anfield seven times (I think) would love to go more, but have a family now, so going to games on my days off is not a priority. My kids are.
Sorry if this makes me a plastic.

Yep, so when I next go I'll be classed as a football tourist. Might even buy a half and half scarf and take lots of selfies

It doesn't define your support however there is a counter to the argument.

The Euro's was a great example for me, 1000's of Irish lads all jump on the Euro bandwagon once we'd qualified, all head off to France, didn't see half these lads in the rain when we played gibralter in front of a half empty stadium, but there they were dressed as leprachans all there for "the craic"

Funnily didn't see them in the first home game after the Euro's.

This.

Its not as easy as it used to be for me to go now I have a young child.

Cant just say to Mrs Irish Im away to Anfield, see you later.

Used to go a fair but in my youth and still go to as many home ROI games as I can.

Does that make me a plastic supporter, bearing In mind I have followed Liverpool since 1980.

Eh tell you what, try telling the lads over in the US they aren't 'proper' fans when they're up at 4-5am, for a 12pm UK time ko, to watch the match.

I also got talking to a Canadian fella who was over with his son for the match a couple of seasons ago. He said all in it cost about $5,000 for the trip

It's slightly different when you're a 10 hour flight costing 1000's to get to one game.

Like I said it doesn't define your support, but for me, if it's easily enough achievable to go to a game then you should go, there is an element of football snobbery about all this (exists in every sport) from game going fans.

I think the main reason I sometimes get annoyed over al lthis is when a fan criticises the atmosphere at a game, they are sitting at home watching on Sky and give about the fans in the ground, "it's so quiet" etc. If you care that much go to the game and sing your heart out.

I love how idiocy can get re-branded as a wum when it's called out as such.

Unfortunately the thread has been taken down but it wasn't a wum, everyone, irrespective of clubs loyalties, disagreed and called him a fool.

Well, everyone except Galv who seems to be loving this for some reason. I assume they're mates.

Is there a cut off point for this? What if I used to go all the time but now have two kids under 4 and can't go as much as I used to?
