"The Club can confirm that Ryan Mason sustained a skull fracture in our fixture at Chelsea this afternoon.
He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he has undergone surgery.

Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days.

Everyone at the Club would like to express their sincere thanks for the excellent and swift care given to Ryan by both the Accident and Emergency department and Neurosurgery Unit at St Mary’s Hospital."

`Undergone surgery` sounds serious, fingers crossed he makes a full recovery and it does not affect his career

Awful. Wishing all the absolute best and a hugely speedy recovery.

Thoughts with Gary Cahill too.

At least he is stable. Could be the end of his career though you would imagine. Still in the grand context it could be worse

I hope he recovers quickly and can play football again. But the most important thing is his health.

Credit to the Chelsea medicine team and their fans for applauding him off the field.
