My opinion on the fight has not changed from the beginning. I think Conor has tools to pose some interesting questions to Floyd but ultimately, this is Floyd's arena and he will come out victorious. How he does it, that is entirely up to him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vik in fairness at the beginning of this thread you were much more positive about McGregor's chances even if you've always backed Mayweather to win.

You were saying stuff like Floyd's punches won't even faze Conor and no way can Floyd hurt or knock out Conor, that Mayweather at the age of 40 is over the hill, that father time could so easily catch up with Floyd in this fight, no chance Floyd finishes him in a few rounds and that all it takes is one punch for Conor to win as he's the bigger man.

All there in the first few pages of this thread mate

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I still believe many of those things but I have had time to contemplate the match up and both fighters. Having also heard from several boxers and trainers, my opinion has shifted slightly as it should. There are people that know a lot more about boxing than me and I tend to take what they say seriously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No offence but I'm more inclined to believe that what you were saying before is your real opinion. I wouldn't be swayed by what many in the boxing community says.

I'd be more inclined to listen to what someone like Keith Thurman is saying about this fight, someone who tells it like it is and without fear or an agenda. https://youtu.be/vS0Irmx4Dgg

All these opinions from so-called experts like Max Kellerman saying that Conor has zero chance and that he won't even touch Mayweather once in the fight is pure BS and it doesn't come from a place of impartiality or reason.

Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows that one punch changes everything, especially when you have a guy that hits as hard as Conor, is as fast as Conor and as clever as he is. Also Conor's team will have a strategy and it won't be the try and match Floyd in a boxing contest that the likes of Canelo have naively tried and failed with.

And whatever anyone says about how skilled and cunning Mayweather is in the ring there's no getting away from the fact that this is a 40 year old Mayweather who hasn't fought in two years and until we see this version of Floyd we just don't know how much of his powers have been lost as they inevitably will with age.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All the above is true, but the fact is that the fight is between a boxing novice against a modern day defensive master.

Conor has a punchers chance and that's about it.

Mayweather will be cautious for about three rounds then box the rookie's ears off, or cruise to an easy points decision making McGregor look slow, ponderous and way out of his depth.

The only doubts is that he gets caught by a big punch or the wheels come off because of his age.

I'm hoping for a turgid Mayweather boxing lesson being handed out, showing the world how ridiculous this charade of a fight is and how stupid they were to fall for the hype and pay for it.

Thing is in that scenario only the fans lose out. I'd rather see something unusual happen on the night even if there is a bit of a freak show element to it.

A boring Mayweather tap and run performance just means that the spectators lose out and I'm not sure it does much for boxing either. Just as the ultra boring May vs Pac fight didn't.

If it's a boring fight then both fighters still walk away very happy with their 100 million + each. All we get is a boring fight. No thanks, I want to be entertained.

I'm all for exciting fights, but in my eyes this fight is a farce and therefore I'm hoping it will pan out that way, deterring such matchups in the future.

As for not being swayed by what the boxing community says, how can you not take heed of the likes of Virgil Hunter,Mike Tyson,Freddie Roach,Robert Garcia,Andre Ward, Evander Holyfield and countless more when they speak about Mayweather vs McGregor?
------------------------------------------------------------------
The same Roach and Holyfield that said Pacquiao beat Mayweather after their fight. Boxing experts can't be wrong I suppose.

No my opinion has changed which is something that you should be open to at all times.
-----------------------------------------------
Which is why I called you out when you recently said "My opinion on the fight has not changed from the beginning".

One minute you're saying your opinion hasn't changed from the beginning, the next you're saying that it has changed. Just trying to find out which one it is.

I know you're a big Conor fan Vik but you've definitely regressed into full on Vik Mayweather mode the closer we get to this fight mate

I'm not trying at all Vik, just trying to to make sense of what your opinion truly is and why it's changed over recent months mate.

Mr C

Did you see Victor Ortiz recently saying that Mayweather couldn't crack an egg with a punch? Ironic seeing as he did ko him, albeit grossly unfairly.

Interestingly Ortiz also said that Conor has no advantage as a southpaw - something I'm inclined to agree with. Don't think it makes any difference against Mayweather.

Paulie wasn't impressed with his power either, and it seems he's choosing his words carefully...
i might sway to a stoppage now... still thinking points, but starting to sway...

Superb yeah mate I've seen that interview on first take. Ortiz saying he let Floyd hit him 4 times and it didn't do anything.

Have you seen paulie talking about the sparring with conor yet?

Yeah very interesting to hear that Mr C but not a huge surprise as we know that Mayweather doesn't hit hard and that lack of power will only have diminished even further as Mayweather was still about 34 when he fought Ortiz.

I saw a bit of the Paulie interview but he started talking about his watch so I lost interest a bit. Did he say anything interesting or revealing about his sparring session?

Floyd is more likely to shatter his brittle hands on Conor's granite chin than stoppage him

Stringer have you put that massive bet on Mayweather yet mate seeing as you're virtually certain of the outcome ?

I won't be betting on this, I only bet on real sports.
I don't think Connor will get knocked out, When i say stoppage, as in Connor gets winded and just taps out...
or that he's getting picked off later in the fight with no repsone, and Ref steps in...
