Brilliant. Played all except demon souls. It's really, really hard but it's also more rewarding than nearly every game, cleverly designed too. The sense of euphoria beating a tricky boss is amazing.
I'd go ds3 or bloodborne if you've not played as they are faster. If you want a rewarding challenge, then this is worth playing, but it's a tough game.
I played the original Demon Souls and Dark Souls, they were not as difficult as people made out, but they were challenging.
If you went in gung ho you died, but a little thought and careful planning ( making sure you didnt bite off more than you could chew) it was pretty straight forward.
It's Ironic you bring this up now as there is a new game from Team Ninja very much in the same vein called Nioh.
It's supposed to be pretty good ( I nearly posted something on it) if you enjoy this type of game Nioh is right up your alley
Agree with Baz. The games are brilliant and starting off with BB or DS3 is certainly the best thing.
Also the games arent difficult, you will get punished for doing something wrong, but that will be your fault. They are difficult in the fact you need to learn them......like basic maths is "difficult" for a child. Dark Souls is basic maths for children and not quantum physics like a lot of people seem to assume.
I litterally spent about 10 hours in the 1st part of the first area in bloodborne, every death my fault and avoidable - now I can clear the place out in 10 minutes with no weapons. Its easy but I had to learn the game - just cos you cant stomp the first few enemies people think the game is hard.
Ive played DS and BB. I had more spare time when i was playing DS(no kids or a gf) so I nearly finished it and enjoyed it thoroughly. I bought BB last year to give it a shot but with limited time to play it and long spaces between i kept forgetting the layouts(you need to memroise the shortcuts) and the moves which resulted in me giving up pretty quickly.
If I had the time though I think I would have got just as much enjoyment out of it.
If you have the spare time and can devote to it I would jump right in.
Took me about 3 months longer than the likes of Amiga and Simon as I wasn't playing it all the time.
Best part of the game- the boss battles. Utterly brilliant, clever designs. Bloodborne has a whole range of other dungeons included seperate to the main game so has loads of content.
I'd pick ds3 over BB I think. Both are superb examples of a combat based rpg. Don't think I've played anything that comes close in combat mechanics.

I'm going to have an eye on that. Shows early promice!
Nioh really is getting some great reviews, Sony really has some great exclusives
Read up a little on nioh. Seems like there completely ripped off ds, but done it at such a good standard they've improved on some aspects, so it looks like a very, very good game indeed.
Its certainly a bit of a strange one Baz especially since its been in developement for over 10 years and argueably Demon/Dark/Blood borrow from Ninja Gaiden which was created by the Nioh team. Very much the TR vs UC arguement. At the end of the day everyone wins.
Also Nioh seems to do enough to differentiate from Soulsbourne.

Simon, even if it's a complete rip off I won't care as long as it does it as well. And it sounds like it does for the most part.
The one bit I've read it doesn't hold up in is boss fights- souks always was relatively fair when you worked out how to beat then, but nioh apparently steps it up to unfair levels. It's definately on my list now though...
For Honor looks good aswell.
All the previous work that had been done was scrapped and they started from scratch when Team Ninja came in around 2012.
It's a definite Souls rip off.
