You can feck right off skip, if Quatar want to host a global sporting event they MUST adhere to all supporters and make Quatar a place everyone feels welcome.
Now you claim people want to make every nation like the West, this is complete bollox to start with, however, in a global event the host nation should understand that people of all cultures will be arriving and therefore shoudl be catered to to make the event a success.
Say Ireland hosted the WC in a joint bid, and a ME team were playing here, would you not expect fans to be able to pray while they're here? To have access to halal foods etc?

Quatar have a real chance here to maybe heal divides that exist and certainly clear up some common misconceptions about ME countries.
If they make the WC as welcoming as possible to fans from all nations, make them feel comfortable, safe and accepting of different cultures then it could go a long way towards showing people in the West that the ME not this backward place like many believe it to be.
I hope they do the right thing, like if they even try to enforce any kind of dress code (women covering their face / head etc.) then the WC shoudl never go to a nation like this again.

You're often the voice of reason kneerash, but let's be fair here........the West has a real strange view on which 'Muslim' countries are backwards and those which are our friends.
The outcome of this will be purely based on how we report on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point Galv, and yeahcompletley agree the stories that come out from people who attend will certainly dictate the narrative of was Quatar havin gthe WC a good or bad thing.
I just hope it goes well, I know FIFA are as corrupt as anything, but I do actually like the idea of the legacy they speak of. The idea that by brining a WC to a place it's never been will leave a lasting legacy and help grow the game, in theory this is a great idea, however in practice you only have to look at South Africa to see it ultimatley cost the country an awful lot and several stadia built to host games are now sitting there empty.
Quatar could leave a lasting legacy for the good of the game, but to do so they need to be willing to compromise.

You are the one who lives in London, not us
London, and the UK in general, is multi-cultural and inclusive of all religions. The London Olympics was a success in bringing many cultures together.
No one has said 'if you don't like it don't come to our country' - merely given you the advice that if you think the place you live in is the "shttiest city in the world" then maybe you should move
