Did he say that Anglian?
If he thought he was excellent, why did he take him off with 35 mins left.?
Like I say, we've tried to get promoted with a number of the same players over the last 4 seasons and failed.
That doesn't suggest we're unlucky, it suggests we're not good enough.
Bent says keep playing like we did at Villa and all will be well.... Is everyone else as happy as he is to dominate possession, create very little and lose 1-0?
Sometimes I wish somebody would come out and tell it as it is.
We were unfotunate not to get promotion when we reached the play offs and unfortunate last season when some wrong decisions and an untypical performance from Carson lost us a place in the play off final. We were good enough to reach those finals.
Our problem has been poor acquisitions. Wasting money on mediocre players has always been followed by a decline from Derek Hayles to Ravanelli. No reason to think that the current crop will have a different outcome.
Football is a game where small margins matter. That is why there is always an element of luck involved. We were getting the decisions and luck during McClaren's first games. Leeds, Sheff Wednesday and Norwich all looked better than us. Now against Cardiff, Burton and Villa the luck is going the other way. Over 46 games luck tends to even out.
McClaren has only bought 6 of the current squad to the club from what I can see. Christie,Thorne,Nugent...Ince & Bent on loan that signed permanent and De Sart on loan. He currently has a 50% win ratio in both terms making him top of the pile since Jim Smith. Poor signings??? Don't blame McClaren

He did say that, AJ, in one of his post match interviews. You'll have to do the searching though.
You're right. We're nowhere near good enough for promotion at the moment.
Same players though ?
Only 3 players played on Saturday Ang that played in the play off final. Keogh,Hughes & Russell.
I've done the searching for you, AJ.
Post match interview with Colin Gibson on RamsPlayer
Just think...we had £22m worth of talent bought that wasn't even on the bench Saturday.

I am here.
I agree very much with Spart when he says about the margins being very fine in football. We go completely over the top in our criticism of individuals when we lose. I don't think any of our players are awful by any means but we are less than the sum of our parts. In our good run after McLaren arrived we never played well in my opinion and we have yet to develop a consistent pattern of play. For me the choice of wide player is less important than getting a consistent midfield trio who complement each other and a central striker who can link up the play a little.
Having missed the last couple of games I feel the need to go tomorrow night. Does anyone here know if pay on the door will be allowed?
Vidal
Don't think so. According to DCFC ticket website they are available until noon tomorrow. No facility for collecting tickets at Blackburn.
Just phoned DCFC. They said that seeing as it's me they will make sure I can get in by paying at the turnstile. Happy days.
If Thorne and Martin were in the team we would be doing better. But one is on loan to a club who could take our place in the top 6 and the other has been injured for some time and we don't really know if he will ever get back to his best. If only these 2 had been replaced by similar players things would be better, especially a strong defensive midfield player and not a lightweight one.
I still can't understand all the criticism of the hard working Russell, is it cuz he's a Ginger?
Keogh having a scan but is a doubt for tomorrow. Shackell out too.
Could be interesting.
We can recall Rawson. After all sitting on the bench at Coventry is hardly developing him as a player.
Too inexperienced. More likely Baird?...
Russell is a perfectly decent player but fans need to have a figure to blame so he is as good as any in that respect. I haven't seen too many dreadful individual performances this season by any Derby player but there have been plenty of poor team displays.

What place in the top 6? You're not even in the top 10.
We'd be in the top 6 with a fit Thorne and Martin.
McClaren needs to go if he thought Desart was good on Saturday he gave the ball away to villa time and time again. He was fan nying about with the ball and got caught in possession which almost led to 2-0 when they hit the post.
A different point of view.
A guy I work with is a Villa fan, he goes home and away and he said Villa were crap, He doesn't know how they won that game.
In summary he thought Derby looked good and Villa were lucky.
Cstander, glad I am not alone in recognising de Sart's penetrating passes can be a liability. Yes he can play fast, accurate long passes but if they are intercepted then the opposition can quickly counter attack. Villa and Burton aren't good enough to capitalise on this but some teams will be 3 or 4 up if he continues to play risky passes. He needs more experience to know when to play these passes.
