About 115 bhp i think.

At the time it went like stink, probably the same performance as a ford KA now.

Hilarious looking back eh?

Mk1 GTi was 90... or the same as the 1.4 1996 Clio I had when I was 17

doesnt matter if its a second hand dealer or if you got it brand ew, if they see youve tried to fix an issue they wont pay out under warranty

Just so you are aware but VWAG used these plastic fitments to their cooling hoses that had a habit if crumbling

Not sure of 2010 Scirocco's as I don't really do much on cars myself these days, but scirroco of a mate had similar issues and it was the plastic water outlet that was cracked

Cheers

I'll take it in and see what they say... won't tell them I have warranty before though!!

Also mate, and I feel like I am patronising here, but check the cap of the reservoir. If its not on right or has a worn seal that will do it.

Also when you adds water try and do it when engine is cool then run the car with reservoir lid off to help get rid of air. The hose that connects to reservoir give it a squeeze as its running too. Water may go down as air comes out then top up.

Daft and easy as it sounds happens a lot because people top up, close lid and away they go not realising how much pressure builds up

The reservoir cap aligns when closed so no issue there. Also, the car tells me it's low which is always just as I turn it on to leave her or home, so it's empty.

Will try running it with the cap off and squeezing the hose though, cheers for that

Wouldn't ever undo the expansion tank when hot! Made that mistake once before and nearly scalded my arm

yeah, more than likely a seal as your car is 7 years old and they perish quite easy... we have them on brand new cars and theyve gone within 6 months of them leaving factory

Cool.... can that be easily diagnosed?

I had this with my Leon, who VW manufacture

Maybe they just go through coolant quicker than most?

Vw and Audi are not cheap and have a big rep but some of their "faults" are daft.

Cheap plastic fittings or the grommet under the battery of Audi's that gets blocked and fill up with water. Really annoying.

I had a 05 Audi A4 a few years back. The whole triptronic all singing all dancing model and paid a lot for it. Come winter massive amount of water frozen all around the battery one day.

Just sorted daughters car out. Power steering fluid leak and it was the metal clip on the hose was too big

I did think that... but I bought the car in December. First needed to be refilled after more or less 1 month (I contacted the guy I bought it off immediately and he said to keep an eye on it), then it happened about 4 weeks later, then it happened weekly since 3 weeks ago.

we had a recall on 5000 cars that had left the factory without a 12p grommet fitted which meant rain water was running down the car and filling up the footwell

You can do it yourself tbh.

Open bonnet as busby says and shine a torch in there by the reservoir.

If nothing initially start her up and let her heat up and see if anything is escaping around there

Also if you stand her on dry ground see if there are any puddles

Unless you know a guy who won't charge to look not worth going garage. These things are not hard to repair

You may even find a YouTube video

My daughters car at garage was quoting £350 in parts and £100+ in labour.

I Bought new parts for £75 and paid under £100 in labour

we had half a dozen cars a couple of years ago ( x6 models) and the battery positive cable was touching the bodywork, shorting out and setting fire to the cars.... all fun and games
