Unfortunately no one cares for this series.. May be the cricket boards planned it for money or whatever!
definitely fulfilling an agreement rather than a series anyone is really interested in playing. no wonder some players are picking up more injuries and getting tired out at earlier ages. when we should have had the team back home getting some rest and then returning to their counties for training and a few matches ahead of the next test series, we've got them flying off for yet another pointless 3 ODIs.
England need games to prepare for CT trophy. They don't have many games before the tournament.
yea we've only played 19 ODI this last year...
296... not bad...on a difficult pitch
slow going so far for them...
Sheriff,
I don't think many are interested abut this match or series! Anyways good luck

Don't know why West Indies haven't selected Samuels, Gayle, Sammy and Pollard.

Busy in IPL...?
They're all playing in PSL but I would have thought West Indies would have called them back for this series surely. Unless there's some sort of argument between these players and the board I don't know.

Cricket is in the gutter in the west indies these days...it's probably nearly bankrupt
England won pretty easily.. Looking at the standard of the west-indies batting line up.. shocking to say the least..and guess what? England will probably end up losing the series..
a series that most fans saw no value in (unlike the value ECB and WICB obviously see in pounds and dollars) devalued further by the fact we appear to be playing west indies 'B' team.
still think the players should have gone home for a rest and spend a bit of time with family, then into training with their respective counties.
I am going to reply to your opinion on Root here if that's ok? I think Root was the obvious candidate. Not that hes a yes man for Strauss.
Apart from Stokes the rest don't have any personality at all.
I think Root will be a decent captain.. More attacking then Cook. which doesn't say much..
I don't think his form will suffer much.. anyhow I think he should go back to number 4..
good plan Liverpool, didn't want to derail the india thread with talk of England.
don't get me wrong, I didn't see it being anyone other than root either. he's been lined up for the job since his first season. and there is a lot more steel to root than his schoolboy appearance would suggest. I have a bit of concern over the root-stokes combination, as I think stokes' temperament is suspect. but there does appear to be limited options. I might have been tempted to go for YJB in the role.
if promoting youth and talent and giving them a chance to lead gets the same results that we're seeing in the revitalised ODI side it could be great. finding a consistent second opener will be a huge boost to root too - he doesn't need to be coming in to bat in the first hour of tests too often while he's settling down into the new job.
Think cook Jennings and hameed are shoeins for the top 3 so root can go to 4. No 5 Westley or Livingstone stokes 6 bairstow 7. Where does Ali fit in? 8? Back to the Kris thought England let it drift in the middle overs, bowling root nearly handed the match to the windies. The seamers came back to win the game but should have been earlier.
I predict:
cook
hameed
hales
root
stokes
buttler
YJB
woakes
ali
broad
jimmy
for the next test series if all fit
Hales will probably never play test cricket again and he shouldn't
Hameed and Jennings, did good in the tests they played in.
Im not saying I'd pick Hales but i wouldnt be shocked to see him back
This would be my 11 for the first test against SA
Cook
Jennings
Hameed
Root
Bairstow
Moeen
Stokes
Buttler (wk)
Woakes
Broad
Anderson
I would keep Jennings as an opener. hes more attacking then either Cook or Hameed
To get Buttler into the test team he as to be a keeper. Don't see him as a top 6 batter and I think Moeen Ali is better batsman than Stokes on his day
I would Stokes and Buttler licence to attack at 7/8.
