I think this summer is key for butler. Needs to go score runs for Lancashire in red ball cricket. Bairstow has the gloves in the test team and there are better batsmen than butler. If he fails then he will be pigeon holed as an odi player only like Morgan. Need to give a proper spinner a chance be it rashid, leech, kerrigan whoever. This moeen Ali as main spinner has gone on too long. He either has to play as a top 5 batsmen or get dropped.

Morgan said he'd have bowled anyway

These batting collapses keep happening. Can't handle the pressure.

Goood fight back by Windies "C" team! Englund struggling quite hard with such a weak team..

Never knew Mohammed is playing for Windies.. He may be a big asset with his spin bowling though!

Come on Root.

It's quite funny that mighty Englund struggling to beat Windies "c" grade team. Root is key but his strike rate not good enough against stronger oppositions. Mark my words he will struggle against better teams!

Not as funny as the Indians getting bummed in their back yard.

Root didn't seem to struggle against India?

Bodee just wait for the series to be over! In da mean time hold ur horses pal..

Liver,

Root is a fine player but he struggles to up the tempo especially in shorter formats. Now Woakes in my view is very underrated player by u folks. Just watch how he performed today but still he has to justify or fight for his selection sometimes..

By the way congrats on ur mighty win

His strike rate in 20/20 is 130%.. Its a bit low at 86% in the 50 over format but Root is still averages 47 in 50/50

root plays the same role as trott in ODI - anchor the innings if we lose a few wickets and try to bat through. a S/R of 80-90% is fine if you score 100 and you have big hitters scattered through the rest of the side to score quickly if needed. without root's grit yesterday we would have lost, and there's still a place for both types of player in modern ODI, even if the game has become much more slanted towards big biffers scoring quick 30s and 40s.

England make 328 in the last ODI. Looks a tough score for WI to beat.
