I wonder sometimes if people on here ever actually watch football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm pretty sure some don't understand what they are watching at the very least.

Or that scoring 20 odd goals was the criteria... He's no more than a ugly Edin Dzeko

Scoring 20+ goals in 30ish games normally shows you've done the business pretty consistently.

You've just got to look at where United would be without Ibra.

Silva winning it would be equivalent to Giggsy getting a token one because he had a quality career.

Silva hasn't done particularly much. He's a quality player, but not the same level he was a few years ago. I guess playing deeper means he gets fewer goals and assists, but he has hardly done enough to even be nominated.

Silva is playing better now than he ever has in his City career.

They fall in and out of love with him on the rag board more times than they wet the bed at night. A lot.

Doesn't change the fact that he's had a very good season. Football fans are reactionary and emotional.

And none more so than the bed wetters on the rag board. But to say he's had a very good season is a bit ott, especially in the league. I think he's been pretty inconsistent tbh.

Yep. I really don't get where this opinion has come from that his level has dropped or that he's been inconsistent at all this season, he's been fantastic in the deeper central role. I do think a lot of what he does well gets missed aside from either those that watch a lot of him or are ex-footballers (who all seem to rave about him).

100% he's injury free and he's running the show week in week out. Just isn't the final pass before the goal as often any more. He's one or two earlier.

Quite a lot of people say he's the best player they've ever seen in a City shirt.

I think I'll be another when he leaves/retires.

Say what you want, but 26 goals is a very good season whichever way you slice it, let alone with anywhere between 12 and 20? games still to go for them. He will get between 35 and 40 goals in all comps this season.

It's what you'd expect from him. I'd sooner give it Defoe.

yes, that's why it's known as the player who exceeded expectations award, rather than simply player of the year.

No one controls a game better than Silva. Does that make him the best in the league? No it doesn't, but anyone judging him on goals and assists have to watch him properly not just his match of the day highlights. Goals and assists aren't everything.

posted on 5/3/17

He is 100% city most important player.

posted on 5/3/17

You'll never convince them Boris, they just see the highlights. He was at the top of his game today, just running the whole show. Of all the upgrades we'll see in the forthcoming seasons, he's the one that will be the most difficult to replace.

So you think he should get it?

FFS it wasn't that long ago you lot were saying he's past it and has offered virtually nothing etc. A few good games later and he's god again

ha, no, he wouldn't get onto my shortlist of 6 (or 12 even), but i just didn't know why the level of expectations for the player was relevant.

i'd probably go for sanchez, though it's tough to ignore the key players of the runaway league leaders (ie hazard, kante and costa).

pretty thin pickings this season in all honesty.

I don't think he was great teams. This Silva is ahead of any city player at the moment. And he is the best going forward cm in the league. Because he is playing cm.
