Some of the wages we pay are excessive but it difficult to contrast with many of our ‘rivals’ due to nearly two decades of continual CL football.
In regard to TW, he attained his (current) salary over a number of contracts. For example when he signed in 2006 he was probably earning something around the 20k a week mark.
With the addition of various commercial partners along the way, (some of which will be tied to CL qualification/participation) and image rights payments, his salary has steadily increased over the years.
A player’s salary is as much related to their marketability/commercial potential, (rightly or wrongly) as their ability as a football player nowadays.

No improvement past how many seasons...another overhyped English player...Look at Sane at City ripping it up already.
