Average for me. Maybe it's the manner in which we got top 4 too. If we we're convincing in getting it and it was never really in doubt all season then maybe but that hasn't been the case.
6/10 so far but what is important to me is that I feel we are improving and heading in a positive direction. Yes there are still problems but I feel they are things we can and will try to fix.
All 4 summer signings have had a positive contribution and I feel will improve even more next season (maybe not Zlatan). If we can bring in another 3-4 players who can also improve us then that will make a big difference too.
If we just finish this campaign with the League Cup and nothing more than you'd have to regard that as a failure especially with the money spent and optimism that was generated in the summer.
To go through another season in the EL will be draining again and the options/targets in the summer will either get shorter or more expensive, interms of player wages and possible clauses put in their contracts.
If we have a similar time of it next season then you'd have to say Jose position will come under huge scrutiny.
Hopefully it doesn't come to this and we finish the season either in the top 4 or win the EL.
Using the Pogba Performance Rating Scale it's obvious to all Utd fans that the season has been world class

When it's the league cup, I have to disagree, it's the least prestigious of the lot and it's probably fair to say most would exchange it for Top 4.
CL qualification for a club like Man Utd is surely a minimum requirement, considering who we have signed?

CL qualificiation wil be a minimum for city, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Us and now spurs im guessing.
2 have to miss out and 2 will miss out every year.
Poor season if we don't get cl football
Of course I want to see us in the CL and ideally competing to win it but I understand that it's a bit far off right now. In that respect I do think the whole desire for top 4 is over played, especially if you're unlikely to go far. Every season for the last half decade Arsenal fans have delighted in finishing in the top 4, why? To then end up humiliated in March. The only other reason top 4 is so desired is the money it brings but as a fan that is od little concern to me.
Not getting into the CL next season will be a failure but at the same time what exactly are people's main reason's for wanting to be in it next season? IMO we won't win it, I'll be happy to reach the knock out stages. On the other hand while I appreciate the League Cup is the least prestigious trophy on offer, it is still a trophy and the enjoyment I got from winning is ultimately what we want as fans.
the only reason i want us to qualify is the financial implications if we fail to qualify.
having said that, if we manage to qualify and get through the group stages then who knows, we are hard to beat.
If we start converting more of our chances it could be a very good season
Plus were the only side I the country with a trophy so far, and still in with a decent chance of another

Fair enough, just seems a little sad to want something because of the financial implications. I get that it has an influence on our spending which has an influence on the quality of our squad and what we can achieve but just doesn't seem to be what being a fan is about.
2 seasons ago we were all delighted at getting top 4 to then be humiliated in Europe. In that instant the top 4 meant nothing to me because we did nothing with it.

Also, it's still going to be disappointing and a failure not to hit that target. That's why it's a target.

Why aspire to be in the CL if you can't win it eh?
Mourinho out out out is what Robb would be saying if LVG was now in charge.

Not necessarily true in a manager's first season though. Arsenal have had stability, Liverpool have had Klopp there for nearly a season before to settle. Conte has done brilliantly in his first season but he has also inherited a squad who won the title just over a year before he joined.
Jose has some very talented players and I appreciate he can do more with what he has but he has also taken over a club who have IMO been in a mess for 3 years.

I think stats in our CL group stage campaign were 83 shots for Man Utd and 41 shots against, 7 goals scored vs 7 conceded.

dont get me wrong, CL footy on tuesday orwednesday will be awesome, but like you say, the chances of winning it are very slim.
the Adidas deal whereby we lose money by failing to make the CL two seasons on the trot comes into effect if we fail this season.
for me being a fan is about the whole picture.
its all fine and dandy spending this money, but we need to ensure we are bringing it in too.
people are saying we need this that and the other, if us failing to make the CL means we cant get those, then we fall further behind.
