Mustafi and xhaka. O

Two very expensive players in the positions you named.

This is where reasoned debate goes out of the window for irrational people like you, tbh.

So you're defending him then in some aspect, contradicts what you said earlier. you were adament you haven't defended him in anyway.

Xhaka isn't a top dm, mustafi isn't a top cb. We paid well over the odds for both imo.

posted on 20/3/17

You were suggesting I was defending him by saying his motivation is self belief and wanting to prove his critics wrong. That is not a defence of him.

Wasn't what you were saying a few months ago...

I wanna give a special mention to Kos and Mustafi, I thought they were brilliant yesterday, they didn't give Costa a sniff all match and as much as I can't stand the guy, he is a quality striker on his day there is no doubt.

They looked strong, fast and solid, both were on there game position wise. It looks to be our most exciting partnership since Campbell and Toure during the invincible year. Although it's early days, if these two can stay fit then you never know what we might be capable of this season.

And we paid well over the odds? Flies in the face of your earlier claims about Wenger appeasing the cash hungry Kroenke...

Irrational lol, I've seen you shoot down many people on here with a sarcastic answer and try ruin debates when people have put forward plausible arguments. You're obviously a smart guy, wouldn't say the best informed at times at times.

How's that saying they are a top dm and cb lol, I give plaudits when they are deserved. Quite Sad you went through my posts to pick that out.

Best partnership since the Invincibles - damning critique of Mustafi I am sure.
Your point was that Wenger ignored a couple of positions, when in fact he spent very large amounts on them. And at the time you were happy about it!

posted on 20/3/17

If you had said he facked up in the transfer market with expensive flops you would have an argument. But to pretend he continues to ignore them is blatantly not true. Two players in the 20 most expensive PL signings ever.

I'd relish a real debate over a beer one day. I'm not here to make enemy's we all have our opinions, just a lot of uncertainty going on with the club we love.

Are you chatting me up?

posted on 20/3/17

Yeh and they started off well and it did look an exciting prospect. Our defensive partnerships since the invincible have hardly been anything to shout about. That is what I meant , I never said they were the signings we needed or infact that they were top dms or cbs.

Yes mate. I don't mean any harm, nothing personal. Debate is healthy, we all support the team at the end of the day.

Maybe a different coach could get more out of xhaka and mustafi?

It's an emotive subject.

Yes, and others.

Anyway lets see what happens. Gd night, enjoyed the debate il admit you had to make me think a few times. Raised some gd points.

Xhaka has never had a midfield partner, so adjusting to a new league has only been harder. We have seen some glimpses of quality from him - even on Saturday - but a lot of negatives. Forming a good, stable partnership - or 3some - could allow him to step up a level next season.

Mustafi I think has suffered from the teams poor form, poor organisation and poor coaching. Adams and Bould/Keown would struggle with our set-up, tbf. Cech isn't a dominant keeper either, and doesn't really compliment a high line.

There is hope for both long term, although the jury is definitely out!

I said earlier i feel he will stay on another thread. I can't believe people seriously think he's gna leave an unbelievable salary behind , with very little pressure from the board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which thread do you think he'll stay on?

posted on 20/3/17

If we drop out of the top 4 for the first time in 20 years has no influence on Wenger staying or leaving. My personal feeling is that he is staying for at least 1 more year at Arsenal but we certainly will get a sport director in to take away the burden of him.

What DJ saying is that Wenger invest a lot in the team and he himself saying it is the best squad for years in depths and I have to agree with him. That saying I think that Wenger made mistakes in the transfer window and being influenced he bought expansive players like Mustafi in who surely isnt bad but not worth the money we paid for him. Xhaka needs to improve but I think he will come alright.

If you ask me Wenger needs to make big changes in the squad and his deep believe in players come good and who are long enough at Arsenal has to stop. Especially the English core at Arsenal needs to be sorted out. Also the Sanchez/Özil situation is a big problem. If you ask me personally I would let Özil go if he wont sign the contract we think he is worth. Sanchez needs to stay and should be rewarded and we should give him what he demanded that is 250k per week I think.

Wenger's contract situation and the uncertaincy about it is not good for the club. He needs to come out with his decision for the club's sake. It surely cost us as well.

What is his incentive to stay then?. We are looking like missing out on top 4, dropping into the europa league. It looks like the players have given up and are tactically clueless. We have a big chance of losing one or two of our star players, a squad that has a fair bit of deadwood that needs removing. Top players established players and top young stars that are out there and won't look twice at us now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To prove to himself and the doubters that he can do it.
