Cue boring islamophobe and racist labelling, now so often used, it means Nothing now๐
There are good and bad in all groups, and bad Muslims should be called out like any other bad person, of whatever faith, colour or creed.
Allowing one group the luxury of special status is not healthy for any society.
If a christian, Sikh, Jew or atheist is a wrong in, call it like it is.
If a white, black or brown person is bad, say so, and make no excuses for them.
If a Muslim Or Jew is a good person, say so, and don't base opinion on faith or background.
Frankly, it speaks volumes of how islamist fundamentalism has poisoned rational debate, that I have to state the bleeding obvious in this post.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. Basically, if you're a good, decent person, that's all that matters. I, and millions of others, don't need religion to tell me how to treat others, and how to lead a worthwhile life. It was how I was brought up, and then continued to develop myself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe in God and would say I was christian, but I try not to preach, or claim to have the answers, or truth.
For one good reason....I have sinned more than most, and as a kid hated attending Greenisland methodist church and Sunday school.
P!us Free P DUP in Carrick closed our playgrounds and we were not allowed to play cootie ona Sunday, due to our minor dose of fundamental religion.
I would not want the pope or paisley telling me how to pray or live.
Now, I am not going to be lectured by islamist fundamentalists in my homeland.....fek that!

Yeah I go along with that.. reference to British soldiers was the various news stories over the years about the conduct of some - but take your point generally that there's good and bad in all societies....
Also not sure saying "Muslims hate us" and "our way of life" is helpful an iota in this debate... also grateful if someone could identify what "British values" ..... I know what that term meant 60'years ago - was aligned to Christianity... what does it mean today???
One final issue, concerning Christian and other minority faith groups in mainly Muslim counties.
Let their p!right be a lesson to those who allowed islamist hate preachers in our midst.
Isis are currently killing Christians in Egypt, as that ten percent are oppressed in a mainly muslim land, and have you ever heard Kung fU, or the stop the war mob, or the alt- left speak up for ethnically cleansed non- muslims?

The challenge that faith brings into the mix though (be it misinterpreted or not) is that not only does it make individuals want to kill others, it makes them unafraid of killing themselves too (hence the increase of suicide bombers that you don't get in purely political terrorism) in the process.
That alone makes it an incomparable apart from in a very playground manner that completely disregards reasons behind motive.

Yes I do constantly on these threads and you are on them when I say it but you choose to ignore it.
How many times have I criticised Daesh etc for killing minorities, denounced them and provided Islamic evidence as to why Deash shouldn't be considered Islamic?
It's YOU who legitimises them by calling them Islamic, every Arab nation calls them Daesh, it Europe and America who choose to call them ISIS.
So whenever I tell me little nephews Daesh aren't Islamic and don't hold true to Islamic principles people like you pop up to confuse the situation.
How many times have a shown you this letter?
"This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.
Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.
No compulsion is to be on them.
Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.
No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses.
Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.
No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight.
The Muslims are to fight for them.
If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.
Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.
No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world)."
It MUST be double figures now surly if you include all the other threads like this one.
What you don't like is when I also blame others for killing minorities in the middle east, a confirmation of your double standards.
You only care when Daesh kill Christians in Iraq, not when our RAF bombed them during the gulf war and dropped uranium tipped missiles which cause birth defects to this very day you don't say a word.
When Israelis continuously kill and oppress Christian Palestinians in Palestine, particularly in Bethlehem where the population is over 50% Christian you say nothing.
The Christian population has had a continuous presence in Palestine for hundreds of years without persecution and now the population has dwindled to 2% in what is referred to as the occupied territories.
You just accused me of not sticking up for Christian minorities in the ME yet on this very thread I was talking about them, it must have conveniently slipped your mind.

I am happy to discuss issues with Muslims. I have no real interest in the Koran likewise the Torah or the Bible. I think it is far better if we discuss these things without throwing out insults. I don't meet Muslims in my day to day life as there isn't a Muslim community near where I live. So I'm happy to hear their thoughts on politics and religion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed
Problem here is people start from a point of mockery and insult.
More surprisingly for me is arguments that people use without applying the same standard ri their own beliefs or themselves
Let's take for example the typical atheist go to argument ie who created God. If the answer is we don't know or he has always been there even he isn't created they will automatically come with the whole fairy/unicorn etc and laugh smilies
Yet let's look at science and what would the response be to where did matter/energy (whatever you want to call what existed before the big bang) come from. Then we get the same replies. Don't know/always existed etc. So if it existed before the big bang it has no creator either
But its easier to attack and laugh than let the conversation get to their beliefs

Maybe the truth is far too complicated for any current or past human being to understand or comprehend so the natural thing for people to do is create the idea of a god and a heaven and a coping mechanism for the idea of death which one of the few certainties in all our lives.
I hope as a species we continue to evolve our minds and leave behind the easy theories and continue to search for the complicated truths.

I really wouldn't bother Kung fu (I really do admire your effort though), I fear you'll be stuck in Groundhog Day for the next ten years with some people.

Well said... too many ignorant folk on here.. anyone that questions Islams stance on minorities knows very. Very little about Islam.... you only have to pick up a book and read for 10 mins how thenprophet muhammad dealt with Christians and Jews alike - Muslims have lived peacefully with Christians and Jews for centuries.... Isis are killing Muslims too, so to somehow equate the isis with Islam and killing just minioritues is utter bollllks

Thought God was complicated?
Your response is exactly my point though. What you have written applies to you more than the religious.

God is no more complicated than Harry Potter or Batman. Just things invented by man.
I understand you getting antsy because someone is questioning your entire belief system.
