Birmingham 1-2 Derby / And is Hughes carp?🤔

So someone misses the target and you give them a goal. Beggars belief.

Do YOU see the reality, Spurt...? Because the people who compile the stats all seem to be seeing different games to the ones that you're watching, and not a single live match or highlights package bears out your perception.

Perhaps you're just seeing it better than everyone else, huh?

Undoubtedly I am seeing it better than you 666.

The stats bear my opinion out: show your working

Show me your stats. Hughes has scored just as many goals as any of our other midfielders and more than some others. A serious injury at the start of last season didn't help his goals for either. Glad that you consider a highlights package a reflection of what happens in a game. The last live match where Hughes played he was given man of the match even though he went off injured.

Peeder, you have let yourself in for some right stick here matey, eventhough nobody gives a feck that you take the time to compile the table, (now and again anyway).

Next time one of my "scorers" hits the post, I expect you to follow the game to check no matter how many passes we make or if the ball goes out of play (HT even), the next time we score it will be a multi-deflection from the bloke hitting the post 60 minutes earlier.

He's got a point, makes a mockery of the whole thing if you award a goal to Butters. Seriously.

This is not my argument but IMHO this was a Butterfield goal. An own goal is when a defender or other opposition player MISTAKENLY causes the ball to cross the goal line. Standing on or just in front of the line when the ball, unbeknown to the defender - but as a direct result of an attacker's deliberate attempt to score in the form of a kick, shot or header - hits his body and then crosses the line - then that is a goal to the credit of the attacker.

As for Hughes being either better or worse than Keogh, it's like comparing apples to tomatoes or turnips. They are different and it is simply not possible to say one is better than the other.

3R, if the ball had not hit the goalie, it would not have gone in the net, so how can it possibly be a Butterfield goal?

Just goes to show how out of touch with reality these older posters are. I'm losing the will to live today FFS !!!

Butterfield missed the f-ing target, why award him a goal?!

I'm busy starting euthanasia petitions on the government website.

One for Spart, one for Mapdini: please sign

Bryson's barely played this season due to form: that can only mean he's Pele reincarnate or something, according to Spurt's logic.

Where is the 3RFTWDNA article? 🤔

Why is this, is it because like most of the alt right you fear people of superior intellect?

Lessons from history show that all authoritarian regimes have an anti intellectual phase whether it is Ghenghis Khan's hordes, the Spanish Inquisition, the terror in the French revolution, the third Reich, the cultural revolution in China and more recently Brexit and Trumpton. All show a disdain for knowledge and rational thought.

...although given that what he 'sees' varies so wildly from accurate accounts he may as well do one for Brum anyway

666 has a strange obsession with "assists", together with the phrase "use your working". Whoever gets the second-to-last touch before a goal isn't all that meaningful most of the time. Statistics rarely tell the true story of a player's contribution and only fools place their faith in them. It's only opinion, but I find it hard to believe that anyone could watch Hughes play football and not believe that they are in the presence of a very special talent. I wish his shooting was better of course. Some of us never seem to learn that for any player to perform to his best the balance of the team needs to be right. When Hughes played with Thorne and either Hendrick or Bryson he looked what he is, a genius. This season we have had 3 very different managers with completely different styles and even very experienced players struggle when there is no consistency of selection and pattern. Players need to form partnerships and players with great vision and skill like Hughes definitely need others who are as football-intelligent as they are, making the necessary moves at the right time. If you don't have that then Hughes will not be effective - I doubt he would do all that well in a lower league team for example. He will get better the higher the level he plays. While we have had some success with the more functional football we are playing at the moment it's unlikely to get us promoted or to keep us there and since we do have players who are good and smart enough to play with Hughes - Ince, Vydra, Nugent for example.- we ought to be able to accommodate him in the team. I think Butterfield is getting game time because Rowett wants to assess him, not because he thinks he is better than Hughes. Hughes is class, class, class. You don't need an abacus to work out whether a sunset is beautiful or not - you just know, if you have eyes to see that is..

If you aren't there to see the sunset then you can't judge but it doesn't stop some people.

So Spart you're saying that because 666 doesn't go he can't judge. So it also follows that many posters opinions who do go and are questioning Hughes are irrelevant to you.
Only your opinion counts does it?

First thing you have right Rameses. Just remember that and you wont go far wrong.

Those who have seen Hughes play and not noticed the quality must have been looking the other way.
Are you saying Hughes doesn't have ability? Name a more skilful midfielder at the club.

I and others are saying that on merit this season he doesn't deserve a starting place.
Are you saying we should play him regardless? If so then other players at the club would wonder why wonder boy should get special treatment and doing that is bad for moral. What's good for moral is a team on the pitch who on there on merit.
That's the way to run a football team.
Hughes benched, absolutely fine by me.

Why all this squabbling? Sunderland will be relegated and promoted behind us next season....Something's Spart does know!
