Every team in every other league wins all of their games 5 or 6-0. In the prem, around 19 of the 20 teams lose every week. It’s that tough.

You seem very confused.

Missing a couple of chances was part of the "saving energy"... We were not going crazy to try and attack, but we naturally found ourselves getting chances due to the nature of the game and the fact that we were counter attacking... That fact that we didn;t take those chances is nothing to do with the fact that we were clearly staying in 1st gear.

Conserving energy doesn;t mean you just stop playing

most of the chances we missed were from the counter attack agreed? each time we counter attack how many players ran up to make number you didn't think then one of the players running could have pulled a hamstring or twisted the ankle. you can't have it both ways mate. if you're running 40 or 50 yards you are trying to score otherwise jose would have instructed romero to keep the ball and start from the back. keeping possession and keeping the ball like barca now that's what you call is saving energy

To be champions you need to grind out wins. You cannot win a league if you win 5-0 every game.

I think that the bottom line for me is, should we miss out on top 4 by goal difference and not with the Europa, will we be looking back at this game as one where we could have added a few more. Of course, you can point to most games and say we should have scored more. But playing against bottom of the league with 10 men is as good a chance as any to really add to your goals.

we were playing sunderland bottom of the league with a man down and a team who couldn't string 2 passes together let alone defend.

like i said missing out on CL last season because of GD. i don't know how people can be confident we will win the EL especially if we miss out on top 4

If we had scored 2 more we would have forfeited our chances of winning the league. Need to grind.

If we miss out on top 4 because of goal difference, I will look back on games like Stoke and Burnley 0-0 and think how important those dropped points were... Not some game where we won 3-0 and could easily have had 5, were it not for two bad passes from Zlatan.

Point is, if we miss out on top 4.. Games like yesterday were far, far from the ones we should be frustrated about.

We haven't had many bigger games than the one on Thursday (or Sunday, if we want top 4)... Which is why conserving energy was more important than going for some kind of 7-0 win.

Even in 1st gear, we should have won by 5 goals... But 3-0 is a decent result.

We were in control, without putting in much effort for 90 mins though. They had 1 or 2 chances, which will happen in any game.

people are not thinking this through anyway, why go for 5 goals yesterday - which you may or may not manage - when united are guaranteed to score 5 next weekend?

that will bring united's GD to only 8 behind chelsea = title back on?

They are many games to be frustrated about this season. But the Sunderland game is the one just gone and at a period in the season where we know that goal difference may be crucial when it comes to finishing in the top 4. It was also against bottom of the table with 10 men for 50 minutes. As I keep saying, you have to consider the game individually and the context of the season as it stands.

after zlatan goal we were in control but if it wasn't for the sending off anything could have happened 11v11. how often have we scored 2 or 3 goals without anyone getting sent off. if anichebe had gone down when bailly tripped him on the turn things would have been different.

As I keep saying, you have to consider the game individually and the context of the season as it stands.

And as I keep saying... you have to consider the game as part of a bigger picture, one that includes a very difficult, season defining away game in the Europa and.. if we harbour any top 4 ambitions, a massive showdown against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
