CR7 better for sure. The problem is the longer you're at the highest level, the less people appreciate you for it. It becomes just something you kinda take for granted.

Ronaldo at his peak hit 61 goals and plus 20 assists in a single season. When did Brazil Ronaldo to this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Between 1996 and 1998 Ronaldo scored 81 goals in 96 games and took his side to a World Cup final where he was the best player at the tournament. All of this by the age of 21
The disrespect to R9 is incredible. No player could've been the best in the world after not 1, but 2 acls. No teenager was ever as good as him (Rooney and Mbappe only ones who've come close).
If he didn't have those injuries he'd be the best striker of all times. He was scoring 30+ in Italy when defence in Serie A was outrageously good.
C.Ronaldo is a machine that's never been seen before. His consistency can only be matched by one man and that's Messi.
As far as talent goes R9 had it all. I wouldn't have ever entertained the notion that C.Ronaldo was as good as him. But you know what, the level of consistency he's shown, he deserves to be mentioned. When he retires, C.Ronaldo will go down as 2nd greatest of all time at this rate.
Retired players get remembered for their great moments, current players get remembered for their bad games as well. This is why when C.Ronaldo retires, people will look at his numbers, the matches he scored in and will put him as no 2 of all times.
R9 has done enough to warrant a comparison against anyone, as has C.Ronaldo

At their peak better than CR7, but not Messi. Messi was doing defenders just like the Brazilians but with double the numbers. Just because Messi doesn't play Street football doesn't take anything away from him. His dribbling is the hardest skill there is

He scored 25 in his best serie a season.

Big ronaldo - 352 goals - out and out striker
Ronaldo - 500+ goals, atttacking winger, not yet retired.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But for injuries R9 would have scored over 500 goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yawn. Conjecture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This from the guy who said Alli will do more than Lampard in his career
At their absolute best I'd take Ronaldinho over Fat Ronaldo. Both truly phenomenal players of course.
Comparing players from different era's/times, always difficult.
Cristiano is, obviously, a sensational goal scorer but I think Brazilian Ronaldo was more talented as a player, scoring more goals doesn't automatically make CR7 the "better" player imo.
I mean, Rooney's scored more PL goals than Henry, doesn't mean is the more talented player out of the two.
Reading Stretty's comments is always so painful
Fat Ronaldo was the best flat timer ever at his peak. Utterly unstoppable. Pace, skill, power, finishing, shooting. Had to all.
Flat timer* !?! Wtf he's not dead yet. Meant striker.
The thing that C Ronaldo and Messi have over all others is the ridiculous consistency.
Nobody can match their consistency and longevity, and I can see both going until their mid 30's if not later.
Other players have been at their level for relatively short periods of time.
Only Pele is in the same league as them for longevity and consistency though.
No teenager was ever as good as him (Rooney and Mbappe only ones who've come close).

Comparing Mbappe to R9
Get on board the hype train!!!! Not even close.
Cristiano and Messi are both better players that R9, but R9 and Ronaldinho (in my opinion) were both naturally more gifted than Cristiano and Messi.
Still, you can't speculate that but for injury R9 would've gone into score x many more goals, because his goal ration tailed off dramatically after he turned c. 22/23, and his conditioning was poor despite his injuries. Van Nistelrooy came back from and ACL and didn't become a heifer, so it's no excuse.
He's was as good at football as CR... That's unquestionable, if anything, he was better.
But CR's longevity puts him on a higher lever, career wise

Pogba was better, right?
Who was better? Hard to say really, fat Ronaldo was absolutely astonishing at times, and he did it against far far far better defenders than what cristiano has faced. However cr7 has been phenomenal for a long time now and doesn't seem to be slowing down.
In the end it's too hard to say for me, but if you were to ask for pure entertainment value then it's R9 every day of the week. It's a bit like Suarez imo, he isn't the best player in the world but the things he can do and how he creates chances out of nothing keeps you enthralled. R9 did just that and then some.
Semantics really. Who's better even though they have less talent? Seems a bit contradictory to me.
I think Zlatan has it about spot on but CR7 will go down as one of the GOAT due to longevity.
C9 was better to watch for me, loved him, and entertainment in football is quite important imo.
This turned into a fair debate with some good arguments in favour.
A lot more nuanced than Stretty deserved with his joke of an OP
Messi (just)
Cristiano
.......
.......
.......
Everyone else. Including fat Ron.
Ronaldo now had 47 hatricks in his career and 7 CL ones. He's going to end his career as a far greater player than anyone who has ever kicked a ball bar his Argentine nemesis.
It's pathetic how people still belittle Cristiano. Saying Fat Ronaldo was better is simply ridiculous.

It is. Brazilian Ronaldo was a wonderful player but he didn't make Real Madrid a better team than Cristiano has and you could argue that Brazilian one played in a better team (Raul Zidane figo beckham Carlos etc)
Did Fatboy ever win the CL with them or had he left when they won at Hampden? Can't remember.
Ronaldo n Messi have taken their clubs to different stratospheres.
