It all gone very quiet. With the head-start afforded by knowing we were up way back, did we not all think the ranks would be almost fully populated by now with Marquis signed up and other targets captured by now?
Somebody must have inside info.
Seems to of gone rather quite on the transfer front. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.
Are we all happy with that one ?
Very happy with that signing.
Hard to have an opinion on Kiwomya really.
He played against us last season apparently but I honestly can't remember him.
Obviously he is an up and coming striker but so was Curtis.
I hope he doesn't have a bad start with us because our unforgiving supporters could wreck his confidence.
Rather pessimistic Hound. This lad has been chosen whereas Curtis was thrust upon us as a makeweight. From what we know he has been on the radar for a long time, so I'm looking forward to seeing how good he is.
Where is the PL centre half we have linked up and what about Marquis?
Not pessimistic don, just cautious and realistic.
No one forced Curtis on us, if we hadn't wanted him we didn't have to take him.
Agreed that we apparently have been tracking AK for a while but he still has a way to go to prove himself at pro level.
Is it something like 37 first teams games to his name?
On the vsc someone suggested he should have squad number 47 which I like very much.
Good imagination?
Where I sit at the KMS some of the sold called supporters are shocking in their abuse of players if they don't do the business.
ATS came with a good reputation and indeed was built up by supporters after a good pre season but we all know where that went.
Ditto for Curtis, Forrester,Evian and Etheridge, with no mercy shown.
I am all for encouraging players when they are having a tough time but some others don't think that way.
I hope he has a good start so no one gets the chance to get on his back early.
He is a young player and confidence will be a big thing for him.
Hound you failed to mention kyle bennett who is a good footballer.
The next one in waiting Mason
Same old 606?
So is it ok for people to have a view on a situation or not?
Defo hound.
Its a discussion group.
You never know you may even get me to change my opinion re our most naturally gifted player.
Ha, i think i would need a big stick to get that to happen.
Maybe after he has gone you might see it differently.
He aint going to go.
Next manager?
I like it that a good bit of "competitive banter" is back - I miss some of what NY contributed, but at times he was a little "touchy" and over reacted, God Bless Him.
I am a little concerned about the apparent lack of activity compared with last year. What has happened to the so-called "done deal' with the Blades? As far as Marquis is concerned, I hope he is not trying to be too greedy. I accept he was one of the major factors of our promotion, but he should not forget "one swallow does not make a summer". If I was DF I would offer him an improved salary for next year, and then an extension based on his production in the upcoming season. I want Marquis to do even better next season, but in my over 65 years of supporting the Rovers, I've seen a few one season wonders.
Can't wait for the season to start. Hope all of you are having a great summer (technically just about to start). Here, in the so far very wet and cold Northwest, we are finally getting some good weather and Pauline and I had dinner outside last night. The forecast for next weekend is 32C!
RTID and RCTID (Rose City, the home of the Portland Timbers).
I used to complain that the local journalists failed to take Dickov to task over his shortcomings and perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that they have not tackled DF over what he was promising re signings and the Marquis contract negotiations.
But these are surely things that their readers are interested in and it is they who have access and should sell their papers.
Looking at things are they are I believe alot of our hopes will rest on the performances of Mcullock.
Keeping him fit will be so important to us although strangely enough saying that our form dropped when he came back last season.
As 2016/17 drifts into the past, it seems increasingly plain to me that although we underperformed in April and May we were coming up against teams who all had a stronger motivation to win than we did.
Not one game that I can recall did not have more at stake for the opposition than for us. Remember too that our record (apart notably vs Portsmouth) varied from less-than-average (for us) to very poor against top 7 clubs and those chasing those places.
So whilst McCullough did indeed perform well, and unlike some, made no crucial defensive errors that I can recall, those around him did not.
Let us hope that he, Andrews and the yet-to-be-recruited PL centre half will shore up the defence which is really where the blame for the slump rests.
I see there is an update at http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers/doncaster-rovers-miss-out-on-two-targets-but-darren-ferguson-pleased-with-business-so-far-1-8604778
DF cannot be too pleased when he has missed his first-choice targets can he, especially when pre-season is almost upon us?
Arsenal young lad gone home.
Hull defender gon to Fleetwood .
Baby lanza ses he only had 700 followers on twitterbso must have been pants lol
There is an apparently intriguing headline on the OS
I quote:
"Rovers will unveil their latest signing in the Club Doncaster Box Office on Thursday evening.
The new player will be revealed at 5pm on Thursday June 22, and spend the next hour in the Box Office meeting fans.
So if you want to find out the identity of the new signing first, and welcome him to Doncaster Rovers, make sure you come down to the Box Office on Thursday."
Since they have already told us about all of them up to Kiwomya is this Ben Whiteman from Sheff U whose loan move is hardly a secret or a surprise or someone completely new? Promises were made for other signings this week.
Surely they wouldn't make such a fuss if it was just whiteman
The fixture list looks a bit more exciting this season.
Alot of fuss re something we already knew
