Its the clubs responsibility to not set him up for failure, if hes the guy you believe 'is here to get promotion and establish us in the premier league' . show it.

I would like to see this in action not just words, back him with decent players.

its totally down to the club now to prove to us how good TC can be.

Christiansen is understood to have run the Italian through a lengthy presentation, analysing the individual players at Elland Road and identifying areas of their squad which required improvement. He also dissected a number of United’s fixtures under Monk and outlined the changes he planned to make to the club’s style of play. At the end of their conversation, and on the strength of Christiansen’s homework, Radrizzani began the process of appointing him immediately.

It reads well and am optimistic

But got to be backed, that's the key

I think we need some good signings to gloss this over. Just to get some fans onside

I'm unsure what to expect.

He has a 59% win ratio in Cyprus. With an unfancied team and the Cypriot behemoth that is apoel

He seems to be getting kudos for doing a PowerPoint presentation . I have blagged many a job with this technique.

From one blagger to the next. Good luck

I know I said it was worrying appointing such an unknown, but maybe it was a knee jerk reaction which is normal. But I have heard some good feedback from a Cypriot sports journalist. As Elland White and many other Leeds fans have said, we need to get behind him now - no choice.

True, with good signings...

I don't think the list of potential managers inspired many of us but I'm ok with this appointment. Seems to have a good record and looks to have gone that extra mile to impress Rad.

LIW hit nail on the head though, he has to be backed. If we don't improve the team then it doesn't really matter who's at the helm.

I'm feeling a lot more positive about it than I was at the start of the week.

Good article Jonty. He does sound like a real football man but the jury will be out which is natural.

The key is how he starts -as is the case with most managers these days.

Intent is a word I use a lot. I don't want 3 or 4 Sackos. I want 3 or 4 Bartleys. Proven quality who we know will make us a force

We need the following
LB
CB
LMF
CMF
RMF
STRIKER
My preferences would be
Rico Henry
Bartley and Lindsay
Tom Lawrence
Tom Cearney
The Boy who was loaned to Sunderland from MU
Cummings from Hibs or Olly Watkins

Agreed good article.

This is the most positive Jonty article I've read and agree totally.
Just waiting for those signings now, as everyone has said, these are crucial.

I know what you mean, we're used to football managers who can't string a sentence together so the idea of a researched presentation for a job paying a few hundred grand a year seems otherworldly... as opposed to the bare minimum required in normal walks of life!

That's not to knock TC, far from it, it's great he did it.

What will be greater is if the club seek to fill the gaps in quality he's identified. Does his analysis of the playing staff and style of play dovetail with orta's who will be bringing in any players?

The next month 6 or 7 weeks will be telling in terms of backing. Whether they're TC's or orta's men? We'll probably only find out when the bitching starts when one of them gets sacked!

I don't believe the next 6 weeks will be telling or that he needs to be 'backed' by the board now.

I say that because I am a believer in making the most of what you have. I believe in improving people and coaching them be be better at what they do.

So due to that if he can make the players here better than what they are technically and tactically, any other signings won't matter.

Sorry completely disagree

Jesus couldn't turn this squad into champions, needs signings and quality

posted on 16/6/17

Between now and end of transfer window is crucial if this team are to progress. Back TC with quality additions and we have a good chance, don't back him or back him with dross and we will struggle.

My biggest worry about our current squad is central midfield. We have:

Bridcutt
O'Kane
Phillips
Vieira
Dave
Murphy

We deffo need to strengthen this area with better quality but i'm worried they might not do this unless we get rid of a few of them.

Hope TC is gonna realise quickly that these midfielders aint good enough to improve on 7th place

With Rad having a four year plan or whatever, should we really be putting so much pressure on the first season? I totally agree that we should be doing everything possible to be up there come the end of the season, but how long are we willing to give the new board and new manager/ coach before they are ripped to bits for not reaching OUR expectations? I think the fact that he has this plan should be warning enough what to expect. A great deal of understanding and patience may be needed.

nah, everyone has a glass ceiling.

Four year plan is far too long.

No messing about, promotion next season, four year plan should be for champions league

posted on 16/6/17

Surely if we finished 7th last season, the ONLY plan should be to better it this next season and get promotion, absolutely zero excuses.

Balls to 3/4 more years in the championship, we'll slip far too far behind in that time and fans will disappear, never mind get on board with it.

posted on 16/6/17

He's on a 2 year deal, confirmed.

posted on 16/6/17

so TC has a 2 year deal with the club having option to make it 3 years.

happy jonty?

bywater we're leeds fans. Patience and understanding? Lose the first game 4-0 and it will be RAD/TC out!

Rad's '5 year plan' is either a PR stroke to take the expectation off the team OR prepping us all for cheapskating in the transfer market. Time will tell.

It will be interesting how a media guy equates a 5 year promotion plan with his other comments about seeing 7th as failure and not liking to see the fans happy with failure

Rich much happier than a 12 month deal it means he can actually plan a bit.
