Four days ago VC accused Rowett of wanting only a team of grafters.

Today he doesn't want Ibe or Ince but rues missing out on Whelan.

In conclusion then, take more water with it, VC
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I want a team with flare players and grafters. I think Whelan would have been good in Thorne's place when he gets injured again.

No I don't want Ibe or Ince, I like the Pritchard types of player who run their socks off for the team. I don't want that Forestieri either or Rhodes or Flint. We should go for Barnsley's Roberts. And I don't want that Caulker.

I want to watch a passing footballing team like we had in 13/14 not a bunch of hoofers or daddy's boys.

I'm not even on twitter and Martin trained.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said earlier, Martin was given this week off but chose to train.

Good lad is Martin, we would have done a lot better last year if he hadn't gone cottaging. He was at his best when Hughes and Forsyth played the ball to his feet. I wonder if GR knows this, cos it's no use lumping balls for him to chase. Perhaps it's best if we sell him for a few bob.

666, am I to believe that you want Ibe to join us? You slag off Will for not enough goals and assists then you want someone with none? I suppose you are excited by the news that our captain is off to the Wendies. We will see how we manage without him.

Has such a quiet off season ever caused so much of a ruckus as this one?

Did we really think we could hold on to Hughes forever? Or is it because we feel that he is worth more than he went for?
Tom Ince has always been a good championship player, is £10m his ceiling value?
This squad (albeit it not all the same players) has failed to live up to the hype for the last 4 years, why are people so surprised that it's now getting ripped apart?

I think it's what is it being replaced with if anything that is causing the most worry.

As it stands my only real concern is Central Midfield, we need some pace in there that can win the ball back, the rest I think we can coast on, if Ince and Russell go and we don't replace I'd worry about how we're going to unlock defences. If Keogh goes I'd worry about pace at the back if we don't replace.

I'm okay with people moving on but if on the opening day of the season this is the team:

....................Mitchell....................
Baird....Widsom....Davies...Fozzy
Blackman...Butters...BJ......Anya
..........Nugent/Vydra.....................
.........................Martin..................

I think that will struggle.

Tommo, it is getting ripped apart and we are seen as the Poundland of the Championship. We are getting rid of decent players but have to hang on to the likes of Blackman, Weimann, Bent and Butterfield, all of whom have proven to be inconsistent or in one case consistently bad.

It is the result of poor decision making since our defeat at Wembley. We should have been promoted by now had we brought in the right players to improve that team. There is one man in particular to blame for those decsions and he is still chairman.

Why are you selling all your best players??

I can see it going t!ts up for you this season...rowetts style of football is truly dire..brum were awfull to watch..just lumping long balls to that pole who,s name im not gonna try n spell

Hope i,m wrong but you have played some wonderfull footie the last 3 years and you will soon turn on rowett cos you like decent football

You can get outa that division playing good football and imo you are going backwards...again i hope i,m wrong cos you hate L๐Ÿšพ๐Ÿšพds as much as we do

Tbf to you Spart, I had a conversation with Andy Appleby at my mates house in Michigan In June 2015 a week after Mel had replaced him as chairman and he warned me that Mel is going to smash the wage structure, throw £ms at. Undo all the balancing that had been done over the previous 6 years and he didn't think Derby would be promoted in the next 5 years as stability wasn't part of meld plans, more boom and bust. He said Jel had wanted GSE to replace McClaren in Dec 2014 so he could bring in Clement. At the time I just thought Mr Appleby was being vindictive but unfortunately I can't prove him wrong. Could you imagine the outcry if GSE had sold Hughes to Watford for less than Vydra or even Johnson

Talk sport said at teatime we are putting a better offer in for ince

If true what they said about the first bid...3.5m up front rising to 7.2 with addons its a bit of an insulting offer tbh

I think Rowett's style was more down to who he had available at Birmingham, I think at Burton whilst not Tika Taka they were a bit more innovative. I hoped with more creative players at his disposal we'd see a bit more pragmatism mixed in with some nuts and bolts. If we are getting rid of anyone and everyone worth money and just keeping Mel's Misfits then yeah we're in a spot of bother. If we can just get in a Geraint Williams or two though I think we'll have enough to see us mid table, no matter who we get rid of, but yeah it might not be pretty until we're in a position to invest again. Unless Elsnik, Bennett, Lowe and Zanzala bloom into Rowett's Babes.

We allegedly paid around £5m-£6m for Ince, his value can have only increased so I cannot see the initial fee being anything below £7m then rising.

posted on 29/6/17

It depends on his weekly wage though, if we need to get the wage bill down urgently we might need to take a hit on the original fee to get him off the books.

Trust me tommo it will have been...we are a right bunch of tight c#+ts in the transfer market

We have no need to operate this way anymore and should just offer a decent amount say 8mill down rising to 10 ...nearly all our transfers are undisclosed fees...cringeworthy

We are not in as bad a position as when Nigel Clough took over from Paul Jewell and we survived that, although at times things on and off the pitch were grim. The crowds still turned up on Saturday though which saw us through. While we could guarantee a decent revenue stream we could keep the creditors at bay.

The current flash sale is probably down to FFP. I am not optimistic about our chances this season. The only way I can see us challenging is if Martin and Nugent can form a partnership which will out muscle most defences.

posted on 29/6/17

I think we still turned up cos we'd seen such a 5hit show under Billy and Paul and there was a sense of the whole club pulling together and we knew it was going to be tough but we looked for the small shoots a rare Ben Davies cross even if it didn't get past the first man, a Gary Teale tackle Hendrick or Hughes getting 5-10mins. Not conceding goals from crosses in the last 5 minutes of a game.

There was a painstaking progression out of our season of discontent, but we knew it would be.

Now that Mel has pi55ed that hard work up the wall are fans going to be as accepting of Austerity Round 2 when it was completely avoidable?

Come on Uncle Mel, get your Wonga out!!!

Jackson Irvine, Jordan Ibe. Go Mel go!

Baz he's got to sell (Ince Keogh) before bringing in players so we are not in trouble with FFP....trust in Mel than god that plank Rush is gone

I preferred trust in Mel than god Wassa.

The only difference between Mel and god is that god doesn't think he is Mel.

In these austere cash strapped times it's nice to see Spart being frugal and reusing an old Bono joke.

Wassa, I realise that

Ince will go, his dad says so.

posted on 30/6/17

Keogh going would be a great bonus, Ince leaving not so much.

Ince put in a lot of virtuoso performances for us last season which we hope we shan't need to resort to this coming term, and with the removal of Captain Calamity then perhaps we can focus the midfield on midfieldering rather than swarming around the hapless centrehalf to protect him.

I'm contemplating chucking a cheeky tenner on us for auto's such is my optimism, even with the rumours of Ince's imminent departure. Bryson and Martin together is worth celebrating and will produce goals by the hatful. With The Nuge also in the mix and with a decent pre-season to form understandings we've got to be in the mix for the top two.
