I saw him a few times and if I'm honest not impressed at all. Fabinho is a far better player.
He looks slow cumbersome, poor positional sense and poor on the ball. Overrated because he was in a very good exciting Monaco side however in reality their main players IMO were mendy, Mbappe and Fabinho. If reports are true that Fabinho would like to come to us then we really are making a balls up going for bakayoko
Not really a proper DM in that he would sit and shield the defence (like Fabinho/Matic), more like Herrera but slower and not as good on the ball, obviously has more physical attributes though.
Another recruit to help assemble the double decker. Happy days
Didn;t really watch much of Monaco, and what I did watch, I certainly wasn;t paying attention to specific players.
Could it be possible that in the few televised Monaco games, Fabinho had a good day and Bakayoko had a bad day?
Anyone who genuinely watches enough to say?

Nope, would agree with what you've said. Only think as I pointed out was that his positioning wasn't that of an out and out DM.
It might be that Jose doesn't want a DM, but two box to box CMs, where one will sit back if the other pushes on, and vice versa?

yup, only seen him 4 or 5 times in last season's CL, which i guess is when most of us started to pay attention to monaco.
in those few viewings wasn't inspired however, his positioning seemed ropey (leading to goals, as picked up on by pundits), and his touch seemed heavy at times. in fact, when i saw them, he was one of their worst players on a few occasions.
but i'd like to think our scouts watch a player a few more times before coming to their conclusions.
Agree he was one of Monacos worst players when I saw him, but the team as a whole were not the best defensively when I saw them.

Agreed.
I saw them probably around 8 times last season. 6 of them in the CL. Only watched them because
1. I had a bet on a number of their games because of the amount of goals they scored and
2. Because actually they were a very exciting team to watch
Can't say I was watching him specifically and yes in some of the games such as Spurs he played well but in the city and juve games he was caught out of position a number of times and looked very cumbersome. Obviously it's difficult to judge on a few games but also they are apparently what others have said who are more knowledgable about him than I am

I would much rather this to be honest than have someone who's sole game is to sit in front of the defence and pass it 6 yards to better players (like we'd expect from Matic), but I'm not sure if Bakayoko is that player or not.
Nainggolan seems to be more suited to that role also, unsure of how available he is or expensive.
Would prefer Fabinho to Bakayoko if we were going for a Monaco player, seems more cultured on the ball and much comfier in possession.
I would take anyone as long as their names are not Dier or Matic.
Yes I would much prefer Fabinho but then again, I was already resigned to the fact that we were going to sign Matic so this news is music to my ears.
Plus, there's the added bonus of stealing another one of Chelsea's primary targets. The number of comments from Chelsea fans laughing at the fact that they were signing Bakayoko and we were gifting them 40m to take matic from their hands...imagine if they're stuck with Matic now and we sign this guy

Watched a lot of Monaco January onwards when they started to look like title winners. Bakayoko is a B2B midfielder with more a defensive mindset to his game. He's good at driving with the ball, and shielding it from the press. His passing is basic but steady, unlike Fabinho who can spread play more effectively.
If we bought Bakayoko (I don't think we will; he's Chelsea bound) he would be rotated with Herrera and Pogba, and he's a much better option at doing that than Fellaini.
I've seen a lot of him.
If he joins us he's amazing.
If he joins Chelsea he's incredibly average...
I only caught Monaco towards the end of the season against City, Dortmund and Juve when the hype train was at full speed. Can't say I noticed the player at all.
What I did notice was how poor Monaco were defensively even in the games they won.
Still, we need someone other than Fellaini or Carrick to sit behind Pogba and Herrera, and Bakayoko has valuable experience in the latter stages of the CL against the very best sides. £35m in this market is "worth a punt" rate. I say go for it.

I would agree, but if Fabinho was also available for a similar price I cannot understand why we would choose Bakayoko.
Just a bit wary of going for players from Monaco because of the season they had, especially the defensive players as they were less than impressive.
