Guess its hard to put yourself in that situation, say you had 2 years left at the top level..Etoo is 30 now and someone comes to him and offers this type of money personally I would snap it up!
Even if he plays there for 2 years and heads to America basically his life is made!
The chances of being offered 100k to support a club is not realistic
for 100k, i'd even watch cricket and pretend to be interested.
I'd still secretly love arsenal, while taking sheikh envac for every penny i could. for 5.2m a year, anyone that claims they wouldnt is lying, a fool or has issues that i won't go into
Offer a player 300k a week and he will bite your arm off
Forget supporting City for 100k a week, I'd do you some favours if you offered me that much.
Whether you'd like it, or not would be debatable though.
Yes. Yes I would. Where do I find this offer? 100k a week?! That's 5.2 million a year before tax or tax free around £3million. But I probably wouldn't go to watch them live very often, it would remind me of my guilt.
No amount of money would make me support arsenal, happiness is worth more than money!
Does anyone know a happy gooner, the crowd at the emirates are a mass of victor meldrew types who don't find any joy in life, no wonder players keep leaving it must be a horrible place to have to play the beautiful game!
They should be sponsored by the Samaritans
Etoo is 30 now and someone comes to him and offers this type of money personally I would snap it up!
------
U make a fair point but Etoo has been earning a bucket load of money for almost 10 years now while playing for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan.
Surely he must have saved up a few pennies over the years playing for clubs likes these.
What Zaphod said.
I'd swear allegiance for £100K a week if it meant my kids could have a good standard of living and good education. My love would still be for Arsenal but they would never know that!
Surely he must have saved up a few pennies over the years playing for clubs likes these.

You would hope so!!!! but a nice little 300k a week retirement pay day in a sheyt league!
Snap it up!
What a bitter man you are. Perhaps you should consider this as regards your club. You make quite a bit of money, you sell players on for quite a lot of money and yet you refuse to spend ANY money due to your wages cap.
Think about it this way, if you had a wages cap in the eighties (I believe you did) is it the same as it is now? No its been upped to take into account the modern game, yet Arsenal and their fans still use this as an excuse for blaming other clubs for their own inadequacies.
As your run buy fiscally astute businessmen answer this. If Tesco's started to lose all their staff and business because sainsburys were paying better wages would they
a) try and keep hold of staff by upping the wages they pay
or
b) take the moral highground and drop down the supermarket rankings and blame sainsburys for them losing money.
If it then happened again and they lost out to Morrisons would they look at their own short comings or blame morrisons and Sainsburys while losing money all the time.
Time Arsenal fans realised just were the money is going that your paying top wack for your season ticket and its not in the team, not in the wages and not paying off the stadium.
You make quite a bit of money, you sell players on for quite a lot of money and yet you refuse to spend ANY money due to your wages cap.

before making definitive statements, it's always good to have an understanding of what you're talking about
Having watched City at my own expense for decades, I'd quite willingly accept £100K a week to continue supporting them.

So what was wrong with the statement Zaphod, thats the overall view of most peole in football and the media, Arsenal panic bought at the end of the transfer window having made a lot of money selling Nasri, Cliche and fab, that money would not have been spent had you not been thrashed by United.
Or do you dispute that as well?
Yes ur right THudd 300K per week would be very hard to turn down.
Think the main reason he took it is that he has won everything in the game apart from the WC so doesnt feel the need to challenge himself.
And lets be honest, Cameroon won't be winning the WC anytime soon
that money would not have been spent had you not been thrashed by United.

-----------
Are you a fortune teller? no-one will ever know if we would have spent the money if we didnt get smashed by united.
Personally i reckon we would probably have still bought in Mertersacker and Arteta.
Park was signed before the united game.
You swapped you interest from Jag to Arteta at 4.30 pm on deadline day at the same time that you filled the gap with Mertersacker...sure it was planned all along.
I think this article is missing one key point:
To put this in context, if you were being paid £75k a week to support the team you love, and someone offered you £100k a week to change your support - would you do it?
I often agree that we can't expect much loyalty from players that are ultimately playing football as a career, and a short career at that.
But where I have some sympathy with fans is when a player that is supposedly committed to the club, has his head turned by an offer of more money, despite that fact that they will earn multi-millions on their current contract.
It's hardly like offering a poor man a chance at earning a good wage, is it?
Is it true that David Walliams is teaching young French kids how to swim the Channel so they can sign £50k a week contracts with Arsenal?
if you were being paid £75k a week to support the team you love, and someone offered you £100k a week to change your support - would you do it?
No
if you were being paid £75k a week to support the team you love, and someone offered you £100k a week to change your support - would you do it?

Simple answer is NO but there is no loyalty in football these days.
Rooney was off last season until United offered him how much??
As for Arteta lee maybe Wenger was playing Hardball and gave everton an offer they coudlnt refuse.
Arteta had to put in a transfer request so I doubt it was down to Everton. If I was a cynic I would say that someones agent had a hand in forcing it through rather than Moyes wanting to lose a valued player.
When I was at the Emirates on Saturday for the match, the two players who impressed me the most were Arteta and Mertesacker. Arterta was running the midfield had made some gorgeous passes in front of goal that unfortunately were wasted. Mertersacker looked very comfotable on the ball and made some lovely passes, Schezney only seemed to be passing the ball to him out of goal which showed that he gave the goalkeeper confidence.
So, call them panic buys if you like, and maybe they were but I for one am very happy with the aquisitions. Still looking forward to seeing Park and Santos, also Gervinho. We don't need Nasri and we got an excellent return from him, thanks.
