Prediction: Matic to United

posted on 13/7/17

I think he's a good signing.

Don't think we were ever really in for him though it was only sources like the star and sun saying we were.

I dont believe you actually had any interest. Media playing off the delays in signing him but the delays were due to the knee injury

This.

If they are not still in a huff

Bullet dodged? You're gonna be watching the heady heights of Matic and Fellaini in midfield next season

My opinion of him is the same as before... No idea what he's like, don't watch Monaco much

Hard to say bullet dodged IMO.

He was a huge reason why Monaco win the title and reached the CL semi finals.

Did we need to spend £40m on central midfield? Possibly not but welcomed signing.

sorry but we have signed a player here that is no better than RLC and Chalobah, the difference is Monaco actually gave the guy a go in the first team and coached him into a better player.

That being said, hes big, quick and powerful would be an upgrade to matic, sign a striker and its not a bad transfer window

we do need some competition for moses and alonso though

I think we are short 5 players , 2 of which should be home grown, with this signing

1 Defender, 1 Atk midfielder , 1 Striker, 2 Home grown.

Then i think we can say job done.

In an irrational way I'm confident hopeful.

Anyways back to the OP. The fee was agreed ages ago. Bakayoko had a knee injury towards the end of last season, which was a concern, hence the delay in completing his deal. Obviously Chelsea are willing to take this measured risk and goe ahead with completion. I think Baka will undergo a knee surgery which will keep him out between 8-10 weeks, so he will probably miss few games at the start of the season.

I don't think Man Utd bid for him, The Sun and Daily Star are well known for scaremongering.

we are deffo short players,
id imagine with zouma going Christiansen is in Conte's plans

so assuming we play 343

CB - Luiz, Cahill, Christiansen, Azpi, Rudiger
RWB Moses
LWB Alonso
CM, Kante, Bakayoko, Cesc, Chalobah
RF, Pedro
CF Batman
LF Hazard

loads of gaps there

Was there not some tweet from him about United that was quickly deleted by him the other day?

I think Chelsea are in talks with RM for Danilo, some papers claiming that we agreed a fee for him. So he will compete with Moses for the RWB position.
I am not sure what is happening with regard to Alex Sandro, that has gone quiet recently, so he was supposed to compete with Alonso for LWB position.
Hope Chelsea have other back up options for the LWB.

I would sell Matic and keep Chalobah (give him a new contract and start him more often next season).

There are only few top strikers that would be available in the market and my preference would be either Belotti or Morata, less inclined towards Auba due to his age and price tag

yeah keeping chalobah is an absolute must for me

Probably either Monaco or Baka's tactics to put pressure on Chelsea to complete the deal. I don't think Man Utd bid for Baka. They were probably interested at the end of last season, but the fee with Monaco was agreed 3-4 weeks ago.

guess it will by hyped as 1-1 between the 2 clubs despite us not even showing interest in him at all, makes for more headlines though I guess
