It's the fact that he always leaves enough bait in a post to hook up his intended audience, but there are always a number of complete mistruths in there too. He plays on the fact that people don't fully read a comment before rushing to get angry and type a reply.
It's not that I'd be terribly disappointed if we sold Matic (although he has helped us to win 2 titles in the last 3 years, so he deserves a good send off). We have signed what looks to be a very good replacement in Bakayoko, so I would understand if Matic prefers to move to a team where he is likely to be first choice. And the reported fee of £40-50M is incredibly frankly if we can get it.
However, there's no point having lots of money in the bank but too few players in the squad. Unless we are planning to immediately reinvest that money on a better central midfield player - what is the point? There is no way Luiz will be playing in midfield - contrary to suggestions above. So our defensive midfield options are Kante or Bakayoko - both of whom (eventually) will be playing. I don't know enough about Lewis Baker to comment - but perhaps he is good enough cover?
Our squad still seems light. We have sold or sent out on loan more players than we have purchased (if you include Costa and Matic) - and we will be playing many more matches.

He turns 29 next month, we've already bought his long term replacement, not exactly a pivotal cog in the machine when he was first choice, still decent but has been on the decline for 2 years now.
If a club want to pay 50mil for him, I'm not shedding any tears over that. Even in this market that's fantastic business.
