Good game but very much lacked the atmosphere of a Scottish derby. Everyone sitting in silence around me. I like shouting abuse all game. Hopefully Barca Juve will have a bit more of an atmosphere

Newcastle and Chelsea are more Spanish than English.

We have 3 English people and 5 Spanish. Manquillo will be out soon though he's trash and Gamez is an old man.

Manquillo looked v promising as a youngster, almost on a par with ... er ... Moreno

He was very good for Spain's U19s and U20s. Simeone didn't really fancy him though, and he hasn't really kicked on from that early promise.

Just doesn't seem like he's very good at defending which in a side thats at the bottom end of the table is quite important. Still early days and maybe with game time he'd improve but I think he's back up and that shows.

Its strange a couple of decent performances and results can change feeling. Think we'll have a comfortableish season unless rafa walks.


Do madrid have any young strikers? Seen Benz was injured i didnt see who started up top but they let one go to Lyon i think and Morata leaving obviously leaving them a bit light?

Yeah Andy, Mariano was the guy we sold to Lyon. Odd that he never really got a proper shot for us, because he definitely showed at Castilla that he knows where the goal is. He's now bagged 4 in 5 for Lyon.


Ledders is right, Borja Mayoral is our current back up. I've not really seen him, but while the local press have been trying to big him up, his goal return for someone supposed to be a poacher is really quite poor.

Zidane's getting flak because he wasn't even on the bench when Benz got injured, which is pretty unforgiveable when we were already without Ronaldo.

I agree it's odd that we let two strikers go and as cover have only brought in an unheralded youngster from the academy.

That's two seasons now we've made a transfer profit, but it was so large this year that I can only imagine Flo was over-confident of landing Mbappe or some other top striker, and missed out.

I can see us looking for emergency cover in January, but I reckon we'll wait until after the World Cup to splash big, so imo it's more likely to be a loan on some out-of-favour striker from a big club.
