Yeah a friend and I were talking about that last week. I think things could have panned out differently for Mourinho has they won that shootout. As flukey as Chelsea were that season I think Madrid were the one team they wouldn’t have lived with in the final.

That was the best team Mourinho ever had, failure to win the CL broke him and we saw what happened the following season.

Overall, Mourinho’s teams have generally been hard to watch even when they were good.

Chelsea was always going to be the best place for him to retreat and lick his wounds, and I can understand why their fans would have had more patience than most with him. His last season there was an epic f*ck up though.

Shame those wounds didn’t get infected and he was out in quarantine.

Mourinho's compensation will be £24m if United choose to sack him now. Why would you even allow such a stupid figure in a contract?! Especially when the bloke is known to be volatile and poisonous.

Ed Woodward has to be one of the thickest people on the planet. Gives him a new contract on stupid wages, then refuses to sign him a defender when Mourinho’s already causing toxicity in pre-season ahead of traditionally worst season at clubs.

Then as a result of these decisions, the season starts going tiiiiiiiits up but won’t sack him because they pay off is massive and we have no contingency plan for sacking the manager.

It blows my mind that people can’t see that this man, and the owners for entrusting him with such power, is by far the biggest problem at this football club.

I’m looking forward to the day he appoints a director of football and an attacking manager. Because when that happens and it still goes tiiiiiits up he’ll have nowhere to hide.
