Some fans seem to think because we are now a top side we should be paying top wages.
By top wages you must assume they mean what City, Arsenal, Chelsea and United pay.
Their wage bills equate to our entire revenue by the way.
If we did pay these wages, the same people would then be hungry for big signings. As well as the new stadium being paid for.
The truth of the matter is we are overachieving by going for a title. It may well be we are in the position that we have to sell a player to fund the wages, if they increase. For the short term anyway.
Levy is not without criticism, but our fans have been spoilt the last couple of years and toys are being thrown out of the pram.
This new stadium is the biggest signing ANY club has EVER made. It may well be that we see fruit of it this year with the Wembley revenue, but we may have to be patient

The latest TV deal income pushes the entire leagues salary capability higher and gate revenue is now dwarfed by the tv revenue
The arguments being made here are about a decade out of date
Stadium or no stadium we will still have 30 odd games at Wembley which provides a larger gate receipt than new WHL once built
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Arsenal's matchday income was not 60m more than ours you would have a great point.
50k a week for every player in the 25 man squad every year.
Without a huge stadium debt.
Wages will go up with the new TV deal, sure.
They will go up at the other clubs too.
And we will be in the same boat as we are now - paying much less than the other 5

Jeez.....imagine if we have a shaky start to the season....say after 8-10 games we drop loads of points and are well off the pace, which with playing at Wembley could happen, then this place will go into meltdown. What we are witnessing at present will seem like a love in.
We are in an invidious position where Levy will never win over the majority of our fans unless of course we steamroll the league, not gonna happen by the way. So we are left with the conundrum of how we take that extra step and finally manage to get some silverware in the cabinet. We are so close yet at the same time so very far. When you consider the spending power of our rivals and the wages they are willing to pay hearing fans say we should match them is absurd in my opinion. It simply cannot be done.
It's unfortunate for us to have such a good team that hasn't won anything, a new stadium to be completed and paid for, rivals spending fortunes just to maintain their status, and fans being so frustrated at being so close but not being able to get over the finishing line. I have real fears for the club if this season results don't go our way as I am positive the increasing disenchantment will reach a crescendo. Levy has as the chairman to accept some responsibility but at the same time it has to be acknowledged that the hurdles he is facing are pretty huge.

The new stadium debt represents a huge capital expense
However, in terms of the Arsenal gate revenue - surely our gate revenue will be higher this season as we are at Wembley which has around 50% greater capacity than the emirates?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on the disparity between ticket pricing doesnt it.
We are also paying Wembley 15m for the priviledge (going by reports).
Who gets the catering and booze revenue?
Sevilla, AC Madrid, Dortmund is the model we are using. We stand alone among prem teams making it work. This summer so far has been a bust, but you have to look at more than just this summer.
The only reason we've been spoiled is because we've got Pochettino who is getting more than the sum of the parts of the squad. If we don't invest, he will leave. We're on the cusp of something amazing and we're throwing it away in favour of frugality.

The last Summer I can remeber like this was 2011.
It was the Summer after the CL run, we finished 5th and had a disappointing league season.
We went in to August without signings.
We bought just two players late, Adebayor and Parker, and had a great season. Until about March anyway

Similar minded fans have said the same in previous windows, yet, we have continued to progress as a club and up the league.
The problem is should wages be going sky high for average players or even good players who have not delivered.
The Messis and Ronaldos of this world deserve the mega wages because they are priceless. Players who win trophies for their club and fans deserve the mega wages.
Until these Spurs players really deliver then they cannot expect to compare themselves to their counterparts.
On the other hand if they want to be like Kyle Walker and jump ship when its handed to them on a silver platter with cherries on top then so be it.
Nothing against Chronic. He was wrong on AVB, I was wrong on Poch. We spent years arguing over Redknapp legacy.
With Levy, his positives will always outweigh the negatives. The majority owners, and Levy in particular as Chairman, are more responsible than any manager or player for what is over a decades worth of progress now. I can accept that there are new financial limitations due to the stadium investment. I can applaud the iron grip of the wage structure.
But the current lack of transfers are an error on his part. We are starting the new season having signed fewer players (none), and spent less money, than every other side in the premiership. Our net spend will probably be lower than any professional side in the country.
Levy believes his own hype imo. He loved the reputation for had for deadline deals after vdv. He loved SAFs comment that doing business with him was torture. Thats why he's p1ssed off so many clubs. He's on a mission to demonstrate you can mount a title challenge without spending a penny. Indeed, mount one after making fifty million pounds through sales. It's very bold but high risk to say the least.
We have money to spend. The fifty million we got for walker for example...He's just Wenger esque about his ideology which makes his stubborn.

Exactly
I think the model we are trying to get in place was evident towards the end of the season.
Kane got injured after Millwall, and Son/Vinny came in. Despite Vinny not scoring himself, the side functioned and scored plenty of goals in the 4 games Kane did not start
Rose last played in January. Yes, January. Davies, despite being a lesser player, came in and we carried on and went on a great run.
Walker got dropped towards the end. The 6 games he did not start at the tail end we conceded just 3 goals and smashed them in for fun
Dembele started 2 of our last 6. One we won only after he went off (Palace). We won 3 of the other 4.
The team is being drilled to work without big parts in it.
I have no doubt in my mind that we will sign both a RB and Barkley.
If Rose goes we will sign a LB.
With Poch's record with improving FBs it would not surprise me if we miss neither long-term
It’s true that Poch is all about the system and players can come in and things don’t alter much, but one player we can’t lose is Toby. We are facked if he goes
Why is it that whenever someone criticises Levy people wind the clock back 20 years and compare him to Suagar? When a current player facks up do we hark back to 1998 and take solace from the fact that Davies vs Liverpool will never be any worse than Tramezzani?
Levy has done a lot for us, can't be disputed, but that doesn't mean he's infallible and above criticism as if he were God.
Nobody is demanding that we go out and start bidding £70m here and £50m there for players, we're just expecting us as a club to try and buy some better players than some of those who let us down last season to give us more strength in depth. All we've done so far is seemingly just sit and wait for clubs to hand us players on a silver platter as opposed to taking the initiative and trying to sign some. Please spare me the "all the prices are absurd" talk either, there's value and quality out there, it's the scouts job to find them.

Right back or no right back, meh. That Burnley striker just went for nearly 20 mil. Look at the bigger picture. We have continually improved the squad to the point we're title challengers!
Constructive critisism is fine, we aren't perfect. But Levy and the club are/have been doing an incredible job to get us where we are. Poch is a massive part of that, but he was a Levy appointment. As were Ramos(fail), Redknapp(success), AVB(middling). Point is we have absorbed the failures and player sales and continued to move up the table, even when competing with mega richclubs.
Show a bit of faith.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is acceptable for us fans to make justified criticism when the club repeatedly makes the same mistakes
No one should be exempt from criticism or viewed through rose tinted spectacles.
For the record, we are one of the very rich clubs
We have a huge fan base, are challenging for titles and play in the champions league - therefore the club need to support Poch by bringing in players of the required calibre
Signing Clint Dempseys and Moussa Sissokos on deadline day does not reflect the resources we actually possess
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, Dempsey was a useful signing.
Secondly, you could probably say the same about half our team when we bought them ...

Relax, Levy will buy us some fresh players to strengthen the squad in the next 3 weeks.
We all know his game, waiting until the last days of the window so he can drive prices down and pick up players at a cheaper price.
It may not be completely ideal, but it is a necessary frugal approach when also building a new stadium, a few million saved here and there all helps.
In 2 or 3 years when we are comfortably into the new stadium and making lots more money, we can then judge ENIC and there ambition.
We are currently punching well above our weight, but it would be splendid if Uncle Joe could sponsor us for a couple hundred million and help us seize this fantastic moment.
