VVD is arguably the best in his position in the league, coutinho is not.
They will Of course have to replace him.
Everton getting the best deal selling Lukaku for 75m
Please try and stay on topic
Plus I don't think the VVD deal ever depended on coutinho being sold, I think they are leaving it late. But that coutinho money will be reinvested in the midfield

If Sandro comes good they've done very well but at this stage they've still lost a 25 a season goalscorer
Liverpool have a higher ceiling in terms of players they can attract, so the money is more useful to them.
Southampton will have to try and pull something out of the bag, but keeping their best players would be better.
Liverpool have weak owners and aren't exactly rich anyway so they'll end up selling Coutinho to Barca.

People talk about Van Dijk like he's the second coming of Alessandro Nesta. He's a good player but he won't come in and fix the defence singlehandedly and he's done nothing to be deserving of being called the best in the league. At 26 years old the guy is barely on double figures in caps for a poor Dutch side.
Losing Coutinho would be a massive blow because like the time they sold Suarez I can't see who they could get to replace him even with all the money.
People underrate Coutinho here. For my money he is a very talented player and approaching his peak. He is actually better than the Iniesta 'of now' and in a team with better players like Barca, he will thrive.
VVD is no 70m player. Would love him at United though.
i'd still be surprised if Barca will stump up the 150m Euros its gna take to land Coutinho let alone our owners accepting the loss of a key player with the season started and weeks left in the window.
Yeah and its gna be around 140m GBP to get him not 76m plus unrealistic 14m addons, i have faith in our current owners getting good deals relating to the current market rates.
Coutinho seems to be kicking up a bit of a fuss though, according to skysports a 'family member' said hes fell out with Klopp .

And so it begins. Apparently all the talk of not forcing an exit and an amicable solution was just talk.
As to who gets the best deal, surely as fans we deal with what happens on the pitch? As such Barca will get the best deal.
Good question.
Bringing in VVD would definitely improve us defensively but I don't think fixing our issues is as simple as a personnel change. It's more down to how we play.
I also think losing coutinho would lose a lot of creativity from our midfield which could mean we struggle even more with teams who sit back and defend deep.
It really depends on if we could also add a real creative spark to our midfield in addition to adding VVD. If we could then yes we've done okay. If not then nah, I'd say Southampton would be better off than us with those two scenarios.
The issue is finding a creative midfield player who could come in and do what coutinho does for us. I can't think of many that would be attainable who could.

Thats why we can't lose him this late on, no replacement. We were all saying we need another Mane but what about Cout? i look around theres no one on the same level when it comes to creativity or match winning capability, maybe a fit Sturridge but who are we kidding .
VVD would be probably the biggest single improvement we could make to our first team short of resigning Suarez or something.
I think Klopp likes Pulisic but hes only 18, not really linked to any other creative mf other then Keita who can apparently do it at both ends. There was the Tadic rumour at the start of the window mind.
I understand Dortmund are taking a similar stance with Dembele and want 150m euro too. Barca thinking they can sit around lowballing waiting for players to kick up a fuss, don't think it will work, they're gna have to pay up for one of them (doubt theyll dare go for both even if they had the money to).
Same with us and VVD we're gna have to pay up if we want him 60-70m and thats always been the case transfer request handed in or not refusing to train or not hes on a 4 year contract like Phil.
Neither club are in desperate need of cash and will get the same offers next summer anyway so what difference does it make losing him to a club or to a tantrum in the reserves. This late in the window and with clubs knowing you have cash will make it almost impossible to find suitable replacements if the clubs even have any lined up in the first place.

Such a classy defender. Probably my favourite centre back outside of Rio and Vidic.
I would go and push for Ousmane Dembele Inbefore if we lost coutinho. He wouldn't be the same kind of player but he could come in and terrorise defences and add a different kind of creativity to coutinho. But he's unrealistic imo.
Lorenzo Insigne is another who I think could come in and operate in midfield, slightly more advanced though, and add the necessary creativity.
But keeping coutinho would be better. Depends though, I'm surprised he's done what he has so maybe he could kick up even more of a fuss and threaten to strike.

If you sign anything like a defender , then I'm worried
